Is this a mode currently in the PTR?
Yes, it’s a checkbox in character creation much like D3.
Unfortunately it doesn’t address the gold costs and reduced drops we have to put up with due to trading.

For me nothing will have changed. I’ve been SSF ever since D2. 
At least now there will be parity with those on the leaderboard in the same mode.
We really need a global chat channel. SSF chars can’t use trade, which I get, but trade is the default chat hub since we lack anything else.

I don’t think they were getting some of those items via trade, if you know what I mean.
For me, this was the expected outcome considering how the game is structured as a multiplayer open world game, but it also does just about nothing. Obviously for some leaderboard enthusiasts it may mean something, but I think there is an even bigger contingency that wanted SSF to actually play the game solo which of course this won’t address.

What are the benefits of SSF in the ptr?
Probably none for PTR but just to test its implementation did not miss anything or is not buggy.
It would suck to start the season in SSF just to find out someone found some workarounds to cheat on the LB again.
Can I ask a few of you to try SSF and let me know if it’s only me or that the goblin event is broken in SSF, I have killed at least five or six of them as I leveled and having just hit level 70 the progress bar of the event is still at 0/600.
And the goblins I have killed are open world ones not in other events that I know they are not ment to work in.
But isn’t that the point of SSF? Not to care about what other players are doing, while not having to team up to get the same amount of drops as a full party?

I mean I play mostly SSF now so better drops makes little difference to me, but yes in theory I agree with you a SSF mode should have better drops for solo play like LE. But Blizzord went a different way with it. I don’t truly understand all of their decisions so won’t pretend to. 
The only benfit here, is to ensure the LB is not filled with RMT geared people. Until someone finds a way to exploit. And that again is if you ONLY care about LB’s. Which I kinda don’t. But some do.
Yes, it’s broken. I assume it’s not supposed to be working in PTR and is just on because it’s on in live. Why they put the goblin event at the same time as the PTR is beyond me.

Streamers that are playing PRT seam to be getting the Goblin event, I could be wrong as I only watch a little when I want a break to have lunch or dinner.
