PTR Season 10 Feedback

I am happy with the direction Diablo 4 is going with Season 10. There is potential.

The Chaos Unique Items are game changing for builds, and are probably the best part of this coming season…good job! BUT…

Chaos Uniques:

Where do you farm these unique items?

I know you can get them from Infernal Hordes by fighting Bartuc. That is all well and good but a horde takes over 10 mins to do if you are doing the 10 wave. You might get 1-2 drops, if you are lucky at the end. Plus, the pool of drops is big because you have horrible items like “Mother’s Embrace” mixed in :angry:. So to get 10 of the Chaos Unique Items I would have to do at minimum 5 of the 10 waves…and that is if I got lucky and got 2 drops per horde AND didn’t have a bad run and couldn’t fight Bartuc cause I didn’t have enough Aether. I don’t know if the Fell Council drops these Chaos items, as they were bugged for me during the PTR. But that is almost an hour of my time trying to farm Chaos Unique items. Now I have 10 but there are upwards of 20+ Chaos Uniques that drop per character. So I might not even get any of the ones I need/want for my build in that hour. Just seems a little too much of a grind, especially for the casual players, which there are many.

I tested going out into the world to see how often a Chaos Unique would drop naturally. I did not get one unique in the Helltides, Undercity, or NMDs…maybe I am just unlucky?

I randomly saw a Chaos Unique in a Smithy Cache every once in a while…but no one buys those. I only do them if it’s part of the seasonal journey and then I never get them again. Waste. I randomly would get one at the Purveyor of Curiosity here and there. But I also had unlimited access to Obols during PTR and spent endless hours buying items for builds and maybe saw a handful in that time. In a regular season that would probably take the entire season to come across a handful at the Purveyor.

Overall, improving drop rates and allowing farming to be not just in the hordes would be much appreciated. I would love to see a Tribute of Chaos for Undercity added (?) Can we make that happen? Maybe a Chaos drop rate in higher pits could be cool, kind of a treat for pushing your build.

Infernal Hordes:

I like the changes but there definitely could be some tweaks to make them a bit better.

Removing Soulspires all together would be my dream. Make it happen? :pray:…I personally felt like the Soulspires got worse with this new version of the hordes…if that is even possible. Having to kill enemies within the spire…NO!!! Some builds kill everything before they even have a chance to come over to the spire. It was taking me a good chunk of my 60 seconds sometimes depending on my build to finish the Soulspire event.

Chaos waves were a great addition. They are fun and add a change up from just the repetitiveness of the waves. I just wish you weren’t forced to play them to get enough Aether to fight Bartuc at the end. I tested out not picking the Chaos waves at all to see how it would go and a majority of the time I didn’t have enough Aether to fight Bartuc. Not every build can handle the Chaos waves, so there might be people that don’t want to choose them knowing they won’t be able to do the harder waves.

The Spoils of Greater Equipment in the Hordes…Why did you increase the cost? I assumed the increase meant better gear. I was so excited to open it after my first horde. Man, was I disappointed :disappointed_relieved:. There was no difference from any other season. IRL already beat you to it. We already deal with inflation for the same items we buy all the time IRL, please don’t add inflation to our games too. We play games to escape reality. :grin:

Perks:

They are great, we all love more power :muscle: on our builds…but rebranding powers to perks and moving where they are on your character screen didn’t really do it for me. Yes, I do notice they are different than the powers from seasons past…but it’s ultimately a power. We need a change up in the seasons. A build should not have to rely on perks/powers every season to be viable. I wouldn’t even mind if you find like 3 things to do each season but put a seasonal twist on it and rotate them out so that it’s not just power, power, power, power, perk every season.

Because this is the season of Chaos. It would have been cool to see something like a Chaos Tree of Perks where you can use a seasonal points system or even do the seasonal currency but just put a price on the Chaos Perks and you can customize what you want so it’s not just about the build it could be about customizing game play too. Just a few samples:

Boost all selected passive stats by ___%
Increase chance for mythic drops by ___%
Allow ___ additional rolls to all tempering
Increase T4 difficulty by ___%, receive greater reward drops

The tree branches could have been endless. Missed opportunity. :unamused:

During my testing, I received multiple chaos uniques from Obol gambling and one from an escalating nightmare dungeon. I also received a Ring of Starless Skies from the Obol vendor.

That said, I didn’t test anything else outside of the Pit and Infernal Hordes. And obviously we had unlimited Obols in the PTR, so there’s that.

I really hope there will be enough activities that drop Chaos Armor. Its probably necessary to keep them away from lair bosses, but all other content should have a decent chance.

In S9 I had to farm dozens of hours to get good Barb gear for Pit pushing. I hope Chaos Armor will make that a bit less grindy and not worse :sweat_smile: . On the other hand, classes with less gear slots and less unique requirements might have a very different experience.
