The rework was a fail. How hard was it to just double down on the Kiss/Sin mechanic from Rootholds to simply make NMDs a more roguelite experience they’re attempting to be. We just needed bigger kisses and bigger sins.
Sins
*no longer recover health
*no longer use one ability
*half your armor
*multi butcher can spawn
*abilities now use health(don’t die)
Kiss
*Using pots reset random ability
*evades chance to proc blastwave shrine effect cheat death can be reduced to one health and stay immune from death 5 seconds
*kills can extend Shrine effects
You push these dungeons and the more sins you take increase the reward but obviously when you get to a choice node if you see a good kiss you grab it to hopefully offset all the sins you’re grabbing.
This isn’t hard.
Streamers are 3 days in and none of them are engaging with the system they’re just doing pit pushes
This surprises you? They’re trying to see what builds are the strongest or most broken right now. You can’t test that in NMD.
NMD testing also wouldn’t take long for a streamer. Go through it, find a portal for the seasonal mechanic, or continue on for the 3-dungeon sigil. Not a lot to test here, other than maybe finding a bug or two.
I agree with OP. Blizz needs to get more creative with their kiss/curse mechanics in NMD’s.
Sigils may as well have no affixes because a fully geared character in T4 isn’t going to be phased in the least by the current offerings; and the rogue-like decision making inside the NMD isn’t much different- just select the options that yield the most reward, with 0 though given to the consequences of any decision.
This was an opportunity to make NMD’s fun, exciting, and challenging but instead we just got a very lazy implementation which feels neither fresh nor interesting.
Also, basing the Horadric Strongroom off the concept of the Gauntlet was doomed from the start. Why would players be interested in a mechanic that was removed from the game in the first place due to a lack of player interest and engagement? Complete insanity.
the new escalating NMD is a crap… Just 3 NMD in a row with a dog boss in the end.
Just a lazy “new” endgame which is more of the same and no one will play.
Also way too easy.
Gotta agree with the OP here. Ran a bunch of NMD’s and now I’m dreading the waste of time they’ll be in season 9. No fun at all but necessary for the seasonal powers. Basically glorified Rootholds from S7 regurgitated.
The celebrity-obsessed insinuate themselves into every thread possible, no matter how tangential the obsession. It’s a tick, they have no other outlet, bless. They could instead try to get rid of all the streamer memorabilia under their beds & quit cold turkey, but that’s hard to do.
There are people here on the forums that are ready to defend the s8 direction to the end. S9 to them is beautiful. They insist they are the majority. Lets see if they are right. If they are, d4 is the game for them, if they arent d4 will end up as the game for nobody. Let it end, wanderer. Let it all end.
And when I stated this after the patch notes prior to the PTR I was told by several losers that I was wrong and this wasn’t what they said in the campfire.
Funny how they are silent now. That is what they get for believing anything said in a campfire.
bro if you like current NMDs then sure youll be hyped for the system. I persoanlly think they dont do enough and seeing people play them and them just being the exact way they are on the live game is not me being told it isnt fun its me knowing it isnt fun.
The current NM Dungeons… whats there to like? Opening doors up to 3 seconds animations. No glyph levelling… wait… theres 1 thing i like. The Butcher encounter. “Fre… BONK… dead.” No… its also boring.
