(PTR) Flamescar useless again

Just the topic, nothing to add…

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

No this season it was good using flamescar Incinerate feel strong… well still not strong enough to be able to do T12 content but it seems Blizzard think that to much for Incinerate so its only usefull to level up from level 1 to 70…

Not strong enough for T12?

I’m not using Incinerate this season but on VoH launch I was doing T12 with Flamescar just fine.

I like the way Flamescar is now. Too bad they will change it again. I waited over 10 seasons for it to be good and barely lasted 3… R.I.P.

Was it actually good? The problem with it was always that it never seemed to make sense to use it. When Incinerate was garbage tier, there was no point. And once Incinerate got strong, mainly through giving it some crazy powerful Aspect multipliers, it just made more sense to use a staff with a double strength Aspect on it since that would be something like an extra 100% or 125% multi; I don’t think Flamescar could ever realistically compete with that, but TBH I don’t really remember how it worked in VoH.

I think flamescar might be interesting. There a two ways I see potential:

1) Make the whole screen burn:

  • Focused Flame node might increase the overall size of the AoE burn of flamescar
  • Emberfury also might increase it
  • You can then get firewall wildfire and firebolt as enchantment to get even more burn

It is most likely not a high tier push build, but it could be incredible fun up to pit 120-130.

2) Shock everything everywhere all the time:

  • Go for the disentegration node
  • Flamescar might apply its damage to all enemies
  • It is no longer a DoT build you utilize overhelming currents aspect
  • You could also combine it with the chain lightning / ice shards / charged bolt enchantment

It would be a lightning build less focused on attack speed / ferocity and more on cc summoning. Chain lightning enchantment could solve the single target damage. Depending on how big the AoE is and if it actually applies to all enemies I see potential.

I used Flamescar during the time when a staff was a better option. It worked very well for me, but keep in mind I don’t do Pit/Tower Pushing.

After VoH, Flamescar was like it is today and coupled with Cauldron Set doing T12 was easy once you get the gear. It was never a META build, but was strong.

On Maxroll there is a build for Incinerate for this season using Flamescar.

Next season, using a Staff will become better again.
