PTR first impression

Keep in mind this is just before going to bed so will be short:

The overall verdict:

  • I can see this work but it’s too chaotic (helltides at least feel too much kinda all over the place)

Simple/stupid request:

  • Increase movement speed baseline by 10% (a bit). If the fights are going to be more chaotic like this then need a bit more MS to make melee builds work kinda better. Especially in Helltides cause seems like often the mobs that spawn nearby almost entomb/entrap you at times

Same with CD, Ults - kinda reduce by some IDK 5 or 10 sec. (noticed CDR isn’t on gear, nor on Utility Manuals for that matter, or haven’t found that kind of a Manual yet, no LH% either, but perhaps it’s ok cause seems possible to get a GA with LH of 15% )

What I love about the current/new look & feel of the game is we’re getting OP items and OP gear and our chars look OP but still feel inferior to the mobs a way, that being said:

  • The Hellbournes and Maiden do a cr*pton of damage

There’s still an overwhelming shower of items but I guess it’s been known that doubled the droprate

Simple things to fix that kinda noticed:

  • At the very first menu before game starts (with the accessibility and all that) - show a Subtitle size sample, the tooltip does not change in size so IDK if say 3/10 is enough or not for ex.

  • This will probably get a very immediate fix - Potion is already leveled up to 90 and there’s an indicator that should level up potion lol

  • The Codex is a bit unintuitive, or at least Salvaging doing the Extraction work isn’t intuitive at the very start, I was wondering where do I extract my Aspect lol and how can I see their progress

  • Enchantment - noticed when I move my mouse (M&KB) I can see the icon that indicates potential options to roll form, when I use the Controller that button disappears so can’t see them

  • Tempering animation kinda feels slow and therefore off a bit, compared to everything else which is instant in game (perhaps reduce it by IDK 0.75 sec ?)

Things I noted about the Sorc in particular:

Hydras are OP again  not cause of damage but rather cause of them having a baked-in splash (no longer need to use Fireball enchant)

Think other Enchants have gotten an upgrade as well

Oh yeah, there are like 5-6 new Aspects that rock (at least on paper) really well:

  • Lucky hit chance to gain +1 to Conjuration skills for 12 Sec
  • Gain 30%-ish damage as long as not having a defensive skill equipped

Think I already found my build lol (but need MS and CDR which both are hard to find, or at least harder)

That’s it for now, the team seems to have done a really good job with the game overall, GJ guys, will talk about things a bit more later

Feel like this would be better placed in the PTR forums. Good write up though.

I could see it being a bit boring and repetitive in terms of every item is 920+ in a way, but I could also imagine the live version gonna have a bit less competition all the time and all the way

Or at least it would get about half the drop rate

@Iggi - didn’t know, thx :slight_smile:

I haven’t played much. But the first impressions were great. Being able to see the skills being changed was great. We already have barbarians with infinite mills. Lol. The affixes are found on several items so I can exchange one for the other and everything makes more sense for the build. I don’t need to be stuck at attack speed with my gloves. Everything flows better now. Nothing to complain about for now.

Good write up.

So how many mobs and what is the spawntime? Curious. Did they up the mob density for the PTR or is that what it will be?

Well, i am done, this change is too much. I dont enjoy this game anymore. Blizzard is no more.Sadly this is not the way imo.

Thank you though Blizzard for literally sucking every last inch of the games enjoyment away from me. Well Done.

I am begging you to ignore this feedback. The helltides are finally where they should have always been, they are helltides, they are supposed to be crazy and chaotic and high density. The over world is so undertuned in general that this is the only way they will ever be even mildly interesting. We finally get helltides in a good place and you get this awful feedback, don’t be afraid of it. This is the kind of nonsense you followed when actman posted his terrible video and you took his advice just to revert all of the changes you made according to his suggestions because they were awful. You can’t build your game around bad players.

Gosh, well…bye I guess?

Well, you are literally the only player who is mostly negative about the changes. I think Blizzard can move on without you

Oh yeah good point just remembered

Think they reduced the density initially but you have the mob hate meter and then waves start appearing right on top of you

One thing I think is that if you have already cleared previously the Hellbourne think that waves start appearing faster permanently until dead ? , not sure about this one but noticed that there are times where the meter wasn’t as high as much and yet couldn’t channel the stash because of spawn rate being high

So overall don’t think density was too much, but it becomes more and more if you kill more, and I think density isn’t that big of a deal but the spawn rate is the bigger problem (turn down a notch)

Again - density is lower than it used to be but the more you kill the more they spawn. The problem isn’t density as much as respawn rate, need turn down just a tad notch (at times respawns start can’t channel even if/when just won a bigger fight :stuck_out_tongue: )

Not sure what exactly was your negative feedback ?, I think you mentioned that good items don’t feel “good” anymore because all the dops are 920+ ?, again, yes, think you’re a bit correct about that, the good items don’t “stand out” as much because of that, however

The live version will have half the drop rate than it has now (or at least that’s what I remember from the patch notes tbh)

One more thing from the Helltides that I remembered, they better implement a similar functionality of “dynamic increase” of density (baseline, not the Helltides) by adding spawning units/structures, not just reviving but actual spawning like

  • Bear caves, Wolf dens, Bat caves, Demonic portals, Succubi Sepulchres, e.t.c.

This may sound like not the right move initially but trust this one cause it will provide better sense of area clearing as well as mob/density clearing rate to our builds, and will no longer have to “bombard” everywhere WT4

This isn’t something to easily implement and will take some time but will be worth it, that way larger areas can become a thing of their own and gain a separate identity compared to other things like paths, dungeons, and chokes for ex.

Thank you….was just curious.

I’d just be happy to have that damned PTR build watermark disabled (or at least the option to disable it) in the game world. On the map/menus? Fine. In the game world? Massively distracting, especially in darker environments. And for folks with visual impairments that cause eyes to be drawn to anomalies like this, it’s just flat out aggravating having it up constantly.

TL;DR: It’s a visual distraction we don’t need. Put it up in the upper left corner of the screen for all I care, just not huge diagonal text plastered on my game world.

Edit: No mount capability on the PTR? So much for it carrying account level status over…

The Helltides are better in terms of content. But the change to make them available in World Tier I and World Tier II make the Fields of Hatred Zones pointless. What’s the point FHZ’s if we have early game access to literally one of the best means to level in the game? Sure you can say the counter is survival but that is only relevant to those that play HC.

Did you unlock the mount in your main Acc ?

They didn’t say you get everything unlocked, they said renown gets carried over

Agreed, in WT1/2 early game should feel like a special opportunity as opposed to a reliable privilege

I know right. I mean I can see it being a worthy challenge on HC going straight into World Tier II. But, Rogue early game is a glass cannon. She can’t take a hit especially one that get’s in her face or she’s dead.

Nah it’s the optics that I don’t like, regardless if it’s harder to survive or not, don’t like for lvl5 to feel like lvl55

It carries over. But you have to “unlock” it in a rather unintuitive way on the PTR - you have to buy a mount from the vendor first. You can’t just customize what you have, you actually have to purchase a vendor mount in order to unlock it. One has to wonder if the developers are even playtesting this.

Also, is anyone else as unimpressed with the “far” camera zoom as I am? Switching between that and standard you’d be hard pressed to see the actual difference. It feels just as claustrophobic in combat as it does on live.

The alpha nov 22 had watermarks all over the screen in every square. I understand why it was in the alpha but I dont think it needed to be in the PTR.

Its not like we needed NDAs or they needed to “protect” the footage.

They could put it via text at the upper left corner of the screen where nothing is currently displayed. Kind of like how D2/D2R does. Having a huge honking watermark is very visually distracting.
