PTR Final Thoughts

Kill streaks are okay. It’s hard to keep them going between levels or zoning. Bloodied items are underwhelming.

Was surprised sanctification was removed. The loss of power and replayability is palatable.

I played a 250+ paragons LS barb. Felt good. Could do 4 or 5 minutes pit 100s. Paladins were doing 2 or 3. Any build under A tier is going to be in for some struggles.

Relentless Butcher is cool. I enjoyed the bloodied tokens for horde and bosses. Dungeon sigil butchers felt weak.

Overall I think s12 needs a power or theme. New uniques were ok. I had no tech issues. Game ran great.

I assume bloodied items where supposed to be the power.

Nah the kill streak stuff is permanent

the only problem with kill streaks is if you are in a dungeon/pit/anywhere where you have to change maps/levels - you lose your streak while changing to the new area.

Plus it must be me, but i always get the dungeon that has me backtracking which causes me to always lose a kill streak, so i wont be doing any dungeons/pits/or maps in s12. Ill probably just play helltide where its always wide open and you have a better chance to hit fresh meat 9,001 kill streak.

hmmm, maybe.

I was expecting kill streaks to stick around but not the bloodied items. But they are so underwhelming you might be right.

Yeah there should be a way to freeze the streak to keep it up for boss fights. Esp for bloodied items with loot related rewards

oddly enough (I dont know how i did it) i was in the helltide and i got to the edge of a helltide (with my streak was around 500something), i ran out of mobs to kill and my streak “froze” - again not sure if i did somethign to get it to freeze, i tried to duplicate that but i just couldnt figure out how i did. I submitted a bug report on it (im sure it wasnt intended to freeze/pause your streak) but it would be nice if you could!

yeah even if pressing a button with a cooldown would reset the streak it would be fine. there just needs to be a way to keep streaks alive during stuff like running out of mobs, hitting a dead end on those of those awful pit maps (lol) or on the way to the boss. not having it destorys any loot related bloodied items you have :frowning:

It is just a bad system. It was bad in D3 and has no business being in D4 tied to items. It is fine if it is a thing for The Pit and NMDs. We need more unique features inside with some variance for flavor.

kill streaks just gave xp boosts in d3. nothing weirdo.

D3 has a season theme with killstreaks. It’s generally thought of as the least popular recurring theme.

i am aware. i personally liked it a lot. you could take a low/mid tier build and do gr150s with it if you could kill the trash mobs. That is very different from what is on the PTR here thou. Kill streaks in seasonal D3 caused events that killed everything on the screen, or summoned angels that would murder everything. These kill streaks dont “do” anything

I’m sorry but I think killstreaks and bloodied items are weak tea. For a seasonal mechanic? Forget it ‘s only a 6-8 week season. Just buff the hell out of everyone as it will ALL change in S13 w/ the expansion anyway. Let everyone be OP.

If the intent isn’t to just add whats on the PTR to the current Season and toss Chaos Uniques back into the game for the like month S12 will last and drop the new Class immediately to everyone that pre-ordered the expansion, it would be a mistake. This would cause a massive frenzy and let players enjoy tremendous power creep until things get culled with the expansion.

Killstreak on ptr freezes when walking from a zone to another.

I don’t know if comparing this to D3 is that great as in D3 it mostly was only about leveling and you didn’t get the benefit in GRs which is most of the experience you gained and killstreaks in D3 was about experience boost.

That said, on PTR the experience you get from killstreaks is no great when comparing it to D3. In D3 you got a massive multiplier and even at 1000 killstreak here it doesn’t even seem to matter all that much. So it’s mostly the killstreak items that matter in the end. And they are very lackluster currently. But as everyone has been saying that, I have a feeling we’re going to see a massive change to the type of bonuses you can get on killstreak items with the final patch notes.

wow! that explains it!! Thanks, too bad the kill streak doesnt freeze when moving from one floor to another, i even timed my skill streak that was 98% of the bar as i clicked thru a portal and still lost it as i appeared thru the next floor

with your answer, this gives me great hope for helltide surfering with me on the edge of the helltides, i believe ill be able to hit fresh meat streaks fairly easy now. I normally play solo but I wonder if my kill streak will carry over to anyone in my party as long as they tag a mob ever once and a while

Changing zones to keep them alive is good. Now, just need that to happen when running to the boss chambers in a Pit, dungeon or wherever bosses spawn, or take time to spawn in. Any bloodied item that gives more items/crafting mats/gold/etc is a good way on paper to juice drops.
