PS5 keeps copying from the PS4 Cross-Gen version disc after instaling from the store the PS5 upgrade

Hi all!

I come here to expose a problem for owners of the physical edition of the game for PS4 who have upgraded to the PS5 version. Once you have already installed the PS5 version (after validating in the store with the PS4 disc) the game works correctly. The problem is, that once you restart the console or change to any other disc, when you insert the Diablo 4 PS4 disc the console starts to install locally all the files of the PS4 version.

I have tried to have installed both (PS4 and PS5), launch both versions to later free the space of the PS4 version but always comes back the problem of copying files.

In other games it is solved by automatically keeping copying paused if the PS5 version is installed.

Is the team aware of this problem? It is very annoying to have to manually cancel the copy every time you start the game.

I would greatly appreciate a response from technical support as it is impossible to contact support when the error occurs on consoles. Thanks in advance!

Yeah this is awful and is decimating my hard drive every time I put the disc in and forget to cancel the PS4 install.

I have the same issue too. It takes up 40 GB and makes my PS5 install a useless ps4 game for 2 till 3 hours.

Same here, any news to solve this?

It seems I still have the exact same issue!
Has it been fix somehow ?
This is soooo annoying !

Close to one year… And exactly the same thing happening… And for sure zero answer from devs… It make you think about keep the disk out of the console.

Edit:
For me, this is issue was fixed. Maybe… Too much late since I have migrated to PC-Steam xD

Its still happening! Now i know why thanks to you guys. I guess i will just stop deleting it for now. I wonder what will happen when i fill up my hard drive … This is VERY annoying…

I’m having the same sort of issue as well, recently! Every time I start D4 on my PS5, my PS5 upgrade is gone and the PS4 version is back. I’m reinstalling right now. This is extremely aggravating. Does anyone know why this is happening, and, more importantly how to make it stop?! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

This very morning when i tried to start my ps4 cross gen bundle I was forced to upgrade to the ps5 version… at lease it was free, however, this issue is still occurring. I am lucky enough to have a 6TB external hard drive for extra storage on which to keep the ps4 version.
