I’m having a lot of fun, but the ps5 graphics look so much worse than I expected. The lightning skills on sorceress look like a cartoon. Dungeons look pretty good, but when ur outside everything looks weird. My main issue is that the spells etc look so strange and don’t fit it the world at all.
I really was not expecting much from the graphics on console.
But I was definitely not impressed.
Looks like D2R+1
Gameplay>Graphics all day but thanks to servers I only have about ~3hours out of the 10+ the game has been live.
I think the character models and the world look pretty decent, but I’m just playing barb so no crazy spell fx. The fx around the portals is pretty cool. I’ll start up a sorc and check out those spell fx.
Don’t mind the FX on sorc spells to be honest. What got me more was the 4-frame-ish animation of the skeletons in first dungeon. Overworld seemed fine, goblins animate/move normal, but the skeletons animation is just weird…
I noticed that when i first got in. But 3rd time around it seems better, probably related to the load and stability issues of the servers.
Give it a good few years like D3 and it should be optimised lol
Yeah most of the fr look great, like the hydra spell looks awesome. But for some reason the lightning looks so bad when ur outside in the snow
I agree graphics look terrible for current gen hardware. On ps5 and my PC (I purchased both versions) this looks like a mobile game that has been ported to consoles and PC. Quite disappointed by it tbo. I expected far better. I didnt buy a current gen game to play with all-platform inclusive graphics. I had hoped for a cutting edge graphical world. You’ve seen 10 minutes of the world? Congratulations. You’ve seen it all. With the muted color schemes it feels like there is very little differentiation between realms and stages while roaming, and the graphical quality tones down what could be awesome during the storyline.
I do love the cutscenes though. Much better than the crappy D3 stencil artwork. That was just bad.
So far D4 is fairly fun, but i had a much more fun time time playing D1-D2-and D3. There’s no matchmaking. Other players disappear from the instance or phase you’re in, so it feels like alone in the world and it is hard to connect with people, esp when clans are limited in size. I’ve so far been plagued with lag and connectivity issues (no, i don’t play via wi-fi), perspective views are cumbersome with a fixed world and no screen position control. Gameplay is similar to an mmo i played on my phone about 8 years ago, mostly due to graphics, color schemes and intensity, and the revamping of the gameplay model to try to fit it into the mmo genre where it does little to shine out among the competition.
This brand new game feels like it already needs a complete remaster to bring it up to speed with current gen systems. Oh well. Baldurs gate 3 is coming in a few months. That’ll probably disentegrate D4’s player base.
This. Exactly this.
I’m going into act 3 I think, nothing really looks different.
Ff$ I the flying spitting enemies from D3 desert area look almost identical as they did in D3… this game just reeks of laziness from the devs.
all blizzard games are 10 years behind the market in terms of graphics- they want it to run on as many devices as possible
Not sure what game you guys are playing but on my ps5 with a 4k tv the world Blizzard created looks amazing.
PS5 on an OLED looks incredible. Seriously no clue what you guys are going on about…
I’m playing on an OLED and it looks great. No idea what these guys are talking about.
sorry to say if you think this game is a visual masterpiece, you must’ve only played other blizzard games for a long time - it looks good enough, but it’s not winning any awards for visuals. still like it better than d3 so far
Hey guus I’m wondering, do you all have HDR turned off? If not try it out.
Who said masterpiece?
I said it looks incredible on an OLED. It does. 4k and locked at 60fps. Great art style.
Regarding HDR, it does take some tinkering. Their implementation of HDR is still not 100%. However it’s much better. With a few adjustments I have it dialed in really nicely. Deep inky blacks again which makes the overall picture quality almost identical to running it in SDR.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve been messing with the sliders and it looks even better.
I have a PS4 and an older LED screen, admittedly, but I would like to know which sliders you changed. I find the world to be very “bland”/“grey”. Don’t know which term I should use. “Devoid of color and vibrance”, maybe?
I have to be honest I’m fairly impressed with how awesome this world looks on my PS5. Just MO.
??? This game looks great on the Series X ( I assume PS5 is pretty similar though I suppose it could be worse ). Granted I have a pretty nice TV but it looks great nonetheless.
For fun go to the wheel and click on ‘zoom in’ and play that way in an area you don’t mind maybe dying in , youll see how good this game looks.
What colour setting are you using? I am seeing the blacks as a washed out light grey. Do think the issue is HDR related
