PS5 - Game Won't Load - Can't Uninstall - No Saved Data Available to Export - Done All but Factory Reset

Went to log in 2 days ago and the game just hung up any time we tried to load it (playing couch co-op with my wife). All other PS5 games performed fine. It shows as ‘installed’ but we can’t launch it. We can’t re-download because it is installed. But we can’t delete. Steps taken so far below:

-First we tried to delete the game. The PS5 through an error code not allowing us to delete the game (we successfully deleted and re-installed another game so it is diablo IV specific).

-My wife spoke to PS customer support and they had her rebuild the database. We let that run for hours. Finally got back into the PS5, but the issue persisted

-We were also told to try downloading the PS4 version of the game onto our PS5 to test that. PS4 version downloaded fine and we were able to log in on both characters. We went to export save data - but NO saved data was listed for Diablo for either PS4 or PS5. We uninstalled PS4 version. PS support said this might also trigger allowing us to reinstall PS5 version. Unfortunately it did not.

-We’re at the point where the only thing we can think of is a factory reset, but are worried about losing game progress.

Are there any other possible solutions besides a factory reset? 2 days straight of trying to resolve this and pretty frustrated, even if we were only 60 hours into the campaign so far.

I went through this process for weeks on my PS4. Uninstalling, installing, rebuilding database, reformating, etc. After crash after crash my PS4 harddrive got so corrupted it was unusable. I said screw it, bought a PS5 the other day and theres no way Im even risking trying to play D4. I urge you to be careful. Ive accepted they ripped me off, stole my $70, and Ill never give them another dime.

I have the exact same issue after today’s patch. I made some progress…I read your post and started downloading the ps4 version. Then I read other posts and restarted the ps5 in safe mode. Then cleared the ps5 cache. That allowed me to finally delete the ps5 version of the game. Deleted the ps4 version which was still downloading as well. I’m currently reinstalling the ps5 version. Hope that helps (both of us)

thank you for the response! I will try again following your steps this weekend and see if I also have any luck with it.
