My PS5 is new (4 months) and I’m playing on the same network as my roommate who plays on xbox. However, I’m experiencing near constant issues with lag and he isn’t. Any other PS5 players having this issue?
He probably gave himself a higher QOS in the router. Jk.
I’ve not had any real lag issues outside of the occasional rubber band when zoning.
Yeah. I was playing on PS5 and the lag was constant. Not game-breaking, but annoying enough to set the game aside until it’s fixed. I still got three characters to T4, but it was a kick in the teeth considering how long and eagerly I awaited this title.
Last night the lag was so bad for me that the game was unplayable, but during my lunch break today it was working fine.
I’ve got a fiber connection to the house with rock solid ping, download/upload speeds, and reliable uptime. Yet still the rubber banding can be unbearable on occasion. If you have a stable connection and other games are working fine, then it’s most likely a server issue. Hopefully blizzard will continue to fix things on their end.
Fwiw when the rubber banding is bad I just log out. Try again the next day or at least wait a few hours.
It’s crazy how I think the most lag issues I have are when CC is insane and I’m barely staying alive and I don’t even see myself die. I think blizzard does it on purpose to prevent you from progressing too fast. Blizzard how about you fix the main issues you have instead of worrying about new seasons since you screwed up season 1 so badly. Smart getting a new game design leader I guess.
Don’t know if it’ll help you, but; any time I’ve had lag, I logout to main menu and rejoin and that seems to fix it for a while.

Someone said they solved their lag problem by changing the bandwidth the console uses for wifi. I think they changed it to 5gHz
Yea, I’ve noticed this too. I have Diablo 4 on Xbox Series X and PS5, same wired network. I get a lot more crashes, lag/rubber-banding on PS5 compared to Xbox. The difference is very noticeable.
My lag on PS5 is actually ok but since the last patch or even since s1 I hit buttons and nothing happens. I see the skill icon activate, but the skill doesn’t actually trigger. It’s ok with basic and core skills, it’s the cd ones that are problematic. I’ve just got into the habit of spamming them now.
Yes, I do as well on my PS5. Here is what I did today and so far, so good. Will need to monitor things going forward.
- Set PS5 to 5G band (Google how to do this)
- Turn off crossplay and crossplay chat
I don’t like having to do #2 but it seems to help a tad. I’d turn it back on for World bosses if you don’t want to solo them.
Im still havinv these issues in November. I just changed from PC to PS5 and it is so bad. I cant run Nightmare Dungeons atm.
Same for me, every 10 sec the game stop for 1 second, and then I can continue. Only with D4 I have this problem (I play on PS5)

I’m having horrendous problems with this too. I saw another thread where the dude was across the river from me, so maybe its forcing eastern Canada to be on US East servers, but it doesn’t cause a problem in D2 on PS5, or Switch, or on my PC version of D4, even though I’m on the same wifi connection for both. It was always worse on PS5, but I managed to get several HC characters completed. This season, it’s just unplayable.
I use a ps5 and zero lag the last four or five days and when I did have lag it wasn’t for long. Run a speed test on your console and reboot daily because a ps5 is still a computer with an OS
Man I’m having a really hard time with lag right now .
I’ve uninstalled, re-installed the game, done a reset on my ps5, I’m at my wits end.
I’m wired into router directly, always have been.
Checked my speed It said 452mbps.
It just started today, Im out of ideas.
Not to pile on, but this has become virtually unplayable. I’ve tried logging on at various times on various days and while some are better than others, the rubber-banding is consistently present every time. At one point, using the timer for Helltide as a reference, I was 21 seconds behind. That’s the worst I’ve seen. This morning, while trying to finish the campaign, the lag is making it impossible. This isn’t a new issue for this game. The new content and obvious commitment to the game brought me back to it, but until this issue resolves, I’m going to take a vacation from Sanctuary. Best of luck. Hope you figure out the issue. On a positive note, was really enjoying the new Season 2 content and the QOLs. Thank you
The only way this game is playable is by turning crossplatform off.

Direct connection to router or over AP’s?
5ghz wont solve the problem yes the bandwith is higher but if u have serval devices in wifi the connection will be bad.
Try always wired to thr Router and make sure the ports are all not in “green mode” or enegry saving.
