Problems with ptr testing

How hard can it be for Blizzard to make the unique cache drop 4 GA max aspect items? i just spent 6 hours opening caches trying to get the 2 new focus’s for the sorc and the best i got are 2 ga and they are not even max aspect. If you want us to test the game for you guys then make it easier for us. They don’t even tell us where the new items drop so we can go and farm them. Why do you think Mekuna and Rob are not even playing the PTR…

I mean, why do you NEED 4ga stuff to test things? 99.9% of the players are not going to be running around with 4ga stuff unless they RMT’d some dupes.

People should be testing what they can do with gear that is reasonably found.

You would want maxed out gear to reach certain break points example atk speed or cool down. Thats how you truly know if the build if broken or not. Ace of spade only figure out how broke Spirit Born was when he hit certain resolve stakes, health, barrier and atk spd break points. For sorc alot of the break points are cooldown related.

Nobody sitting there running around in all 4ga gear. You can hit breakpoints without it. If it requires it then the build already sucks and should be fixed.

No you didn’t. Why lie about something like that? I’m not actually sure what makes you a bigger loser the lie or if you actually spent 6 hours trying to get an item for a test server that’s going away in a week.

by that logic then they should of fixed quill, but they didnt.

You didnt need any 4 ga gear to see that. I have not a single piece of 4ga or 3ga gear. Maybe 2 pieces of 2 ga gear.

Again, if you need 4 star gear to make a build work then the build is already bad and should be buffed.

thats the whole point of testing in a ptr

Um so test it? I can tell you that the point of PTR is not to run around with the absolute bis everything and see if a build is op or crap. Nobody realistically even gets one best in slot piece. Maybe a few people. Everyone else would have to RMT that.

with the amount of post you have here in this forum, i can tell you spend most of your time here instead of actually playing the game, I have a bunch of bis gear, and so do alot of my clan memebers and non of us RMT. we all know its against the terms of service and the head of our clan is a diablo partner so we know not to put his rep in jeopardy. Its very easy to get bis items when you actually play the game instead of wasting your life on a forum, and thats all the time im gonna waste

I have over 1000 hours in this game and I skipped S3 completely. Show me all your 3 and 4 star BiS gear with perfect affixes.

And I’ll say one last time - if you need 4 star anything to make a build work then the build is already trash.

and hopefully d4 never leads to people having maxed out gears.

do you play the ptr to test stuff, or because you want to fool around with some items?
No offense, i wont judge there ^^

either way, the ptr should be focused on “randomized” items in a way. no?

Why do people bring up post count like it takes more than a few seconds to type a post? Even with 10,000 posts at 20 seconds a post it’s probably only a few hours total over 18 months.

a new game where they can get more clicks and make more $$$$ is a few days away. This is what you get when you rely on streamers to test and promote your product. Most will put D4 on the backburner and move on. Anyone with half a brain could see this coming. It should be a harsh lesson for those who make decisions about the game but it will be another missed opportunity.

Tell me you don’t know jack about testing without telling me you don’t know.

Testing is always about covering everything, including the extreme (or what we usually call edge cases). That’s how you prevent 1 billion trillion of damage in prod.

Giving people a complete choice over the tools they use is the 101 of testing.

dont test the game with gear your never going to get in the launch of the new season they should never make you get all the best gear would be dumb

I’ve been alpha/beta/ptr testing since 1998. If a build does astronomical damage with 4 star gear that nobody is getting then it’s doing it with 1 star gear too.

Anything can be obtained in the game should be readily available in the test environment. That’s the whole purpose of having a separate test instance. Blizzard is probably the only exception, this explains why D4 quality is always below the industry standard.

The cool thing about testing is that nothing is certain, that’s why you need to ‘test’. Your experience as a gamer who participated in some PTRs doesn’t mean anything against the common practice of software testing. Stop talking bs.

Do you really think Blizz. cares if the build is broken or not?
