I have lost interest in most of the FPS games I used to play and switched over to ARPGs in the last couple of years.
Games like POE, Grim Dawn, Wolcen and some others.
So far D4, in my subjective opinion, is the best out there.
OK So how do I figure this?
Graphics. I have always been a sucker for good graphics and D4 absolutely delivers on that front.
Level Design. The open world map is awesome, I love the different biomes, the level design and modelling is top notch.
Performance. The best graphics and level design is a moot point if the game runs like a golfball being sucked through a garden hose.
I have an older PC: I7 8700 / NVME Drives / 32 GB Ram / RTX 3070 8GB. Running at 1440 on a 165hz monitor.
I limit my frame rate to 90fps - for an ARPG I don’t see the need to run at 3 billion fps.
I run almost everything on max (Not HD textures), SSAO off and my GPU runs between 50 and 60 percent.
Damned impressive.
Gameplay. The game is very simplified in comparison to something like POE.
I like it. I am over 40 and run a business so I do not have endless grinding time to sink into games any more.
No issues from my side with gameplay so far, apart from stupid build mistakes but that’s par for the course.
There seems to be enough to experiment with for me to get my money’s worth.
Not fully into endgame yet, experimenting with other builds first and enjoying the Druid a LOT!
With other titles I have not jumped aboard from season 1, with this one I will.
