Has anyone else noticed they completely removed the “Predator” title and replaced it with “Enemy”?
Seems strange to censor the titles. What’s next, removing “Master”?

In the culture wars of the USA, everyone is so afraid of saying, doing or implying something that may potentially offend somebody that then results in loss of customers and hence, profits, that companies such as Blizzard are self-censoring long before controversies even start.

If they were truly self-censoring, the title would have never made it into the game in the first place. That said, someone still saw fit to quietly remove it apparently.

Full nudity was created, put into the game, and then years later was self-censored by Blizzard for Diablo IV in late 2022, even though there was no controversy about it at all during the Closed Beta and various officially released media from 2022 and earlier.
The same thing that happened here with the title is no different. It was originally intended to be in the game, existed for a while, but Blizzard took the cowardly way out by self-censoring because it got self-conscious about any potential controversy before any hint of it even materialised.

I noticed this was removed today. I don’t see why Predator would be politically incorrect. As long as you don’t add the prefix “sexual” or “child”, there are no issues. Apex Predator, Slinking Predator, Cunning Predator etc. These are all fine. Change my mind.

Stalker is still in the game. Much more potentially problematic suffix than Predator, but even Stalker is pretty vanilla. Truth be told, if you want to read-in some kind of sexual or inappropriate innuendo, you can do that with pretty much anything.

Prey and Predator are opposites…
and the movie was named prey because there was another movie called Predator 5 that was in development the same time as Prey… and the director didn’t think they would get greenlit … so they called it Prey
