Pour one out for all the players about to die

Let’s pour out a drink to all of our fellow hardcore players that are about to lose their characters due to these insane nerfs to defensive stats that blizzard just introduced. Absolutely ridiculous to nerf something like that this heavily.

  • Fixed an issue where monsters with a Cold, Bleeding, Burning, or Corruption affix would freeze players in 1 hit in Nightmare Dungeons with the Cold Enchanted affix.

I lost a 73 to this last week. Still pretty bitter. But yeah, the survivability nerfs seem to be targeted specifically toward the eternal/sc crowd. It’s going to get even harder now.

I’m sorry, that really really sucks. I’d be pretty angry about that.

I used to play Nightmare Dungeons level 65-70 on my Hardcore character… Now I came to test 55…
I’ve never been close to death so many times in all 3 level 100 hardcore characters combined as I am now in 1 dungeon.
I get it, I have 12k armor, huge melee and ranged damage reduction, 16k health, had incredible damage and had a lot of fun.
I was afraid of one bomber and a white lightning mob that blew me up to 70% hp. I was frozen in a grizzly, I panicked and could not escape (Grizzly almost does not give unstoppable and cools down much longer)
(DRUID(wolf build) Terrified, I spammed the teleport scroll.
I ran away, dirty, wet, pissed wolf.

Same here, basically you have to scroll out when you run into those mobs or you die - that wasnt fun. My 72 Druid died to chain freeze.

I need to read the giant patch notes again… what were the defensive nerfs? I recall seeing some aspects nerfed but what else?

Though I imagine that anyone playing hardcore is diligent/wise enough to check and test patch notes thoroughly before jumping into previously challenging content. That’s like hardcore101.

So glad I only have one character so that’s the only one I need to worry about. And will just learn from scratch when I start a new one inseason. Can’t imagine having to deal with these frequent big patches when you’re actively playing several toons.

edit: looking through it again now and making random important notes…

  • All sorts of cold monsters freeze less now. Was way too much before.
  • Aspect of protector no longer activates on everything basically, and only on elites as intended. Pros and cons but mostly nerf.
  • Big nerfs to carried-power-leveling. Glad to see this…
  • World monster levels will now often be less than yours. Helltide levels are now +3
  • Aspect of disobedience nerfed but still looks good. Aspect of retribution big damage nerf
  • Lot of buffs to NM dungeon drops, nerfs to world. Guess they really want people to spam dungeons…
  • Cooldown reduction nerfed by 30%. Can affect offense and defense
  • Crit and especially vulnerable damage nerfed a lot. Big overall dps decrease
  • HOLY CRAP just saw the last section where they nerfed almost every defensive stat. I don’t know how I didn’t see this at all on first read but I was falling asleep lol… This is definitely done with softcore inmind but ironically it’s going to buff them with even more dps since dying didn’t and still doesn’t matter at all and they were already getting 1shot constantly. This will have a big impact on hardcore play though - your ehp just dropped by around 50% I’d guess O_O. Need to be super careful when playing existing characters after patch until you get a better feel for what you can/can’t now handle.

Overall pretty happy with the patch notes. Obviously there’s been a ton of changes and things to get (re)used to but overall it looks like they care about game balance and are trying to avoid powercreep which was a huge problem in D3. Stay safe yall.

Leveling has been nerfed.

Especially the CDR nerf is critical…One of the most important life insurances for every build, especially when you are chainfrosted.

As did my 76 rogue 3 weeks ago. Glad to hear it was a bug …

I uninstalled specifically because the hit to survivability, and playing this these nerfs as a melee class just doesn’t seem in any way fun now.

Hell, prior to the patch, with 3 damage reduction affixs on chest and legs, one of the fallen exploders can still take 1/4 of your fortified life. I can only imagine what it is after the patch.

I also lost my 60is this way. I think we have been playing an expensive open beta game for a while and still do
