Possible trade solution, looking for constructive criticism

Hey so I was thinking about ways they could make trade work that wouldn’t be easy for RMT to exploit (I’m sure someone might point out how they can in this thread and that’s good!) and I came up with something, maybe…

What if there was a marketplace built into the game where players could post their tradeable items (in this case rares). The could only be bought for in game gold. Then you make gold non-transferrable between players. Then you make it so that rares can only be traded via this marketplace.

This way, players couldn’t buy gold on RMT for the items they want, and RMT sellers couldn’t sell to specific players using outside of game cash transactions because anything listed in the marketplace would be available for the general public to purchase. It would also create an economy around gold which this game seems to have achieved as a valuable resource.

Thoughts?

Easy exploit:

  1. Make bot which will get 1kkk gold.
  2. I will sell rare trash dagger for 1kkk.
  3. Bot buys it.
  4. Gold transferred. GGs
    Cheaters got it all covered.

Yea people already do this in WoW and list a crap epic item for 2000 gold and have some dude in Russia buy it for $10 of their money

You’ll have to think up a way to mitigate that

What if there was a valuation algorithm based on item stats and market activity. If an item was posted outside its value range there would be a warning applied:

“The seller and purchaser of this item will be investigated and any fraudulent activity will result in a permanent account ban”

Then mods could review the most egregious ones or multiple seller/buyer instances.

In that way you will have artificial market. Market can and should go up and down in some cases, otherwise it is not real market, just regulated. And in my opinion that will be exploited as well. I will not write you how just because your idea is quite vague.
Also Devs should not waste their manpower on checking for potential exploits. It is better to make strict and fair system and develop the game.
