Port Forwarding

I need to know exactly which ports i need to forwarded to play this game on PS5. Please dont post a link to some old post with inaccurate information. I know it’s a port forwarding issue because i’m able to connect when i forward ports 1-65535. I’d prefer not to do that. If you don’t have the answer, I absolutely do not care what you have to say.

Well, that’s interesting.

That would mean the game is using odd port assignments or the firewall of your internet is aggressively blocking traffic requests from the game.

Typically, if a connection is initiated from a device on your network, it opens the required port automatically.

Forwarding ports refer to forwarding port requests from outside your network and directing them to your device.

This should not be required at all. And normally not needed unless something needs to request access to a specific device on your network, like older style camera systems, or a host server for something.

So… Yeah. Opening all the ports is NOT a good idea at all. Especially if you aren’t directing the traffic to a specific device.

Again, this shouldn’t be required.

Its more likely the firewall on your device is blocking the outgoing request connection. There should be another way to do this without opening ports and trying to setup a forwarding solution.

As for the port information. This I don’t have. I would suspect that the best place to research this would be from the console manufacturer as its their network you connect to. And even at that, its not so much a forward you need to do, but to not block the required ports the game needs.

You can experiment. Open a segment of ports, then narrow down the number range till you find the ones that work. But that may take time.

Someone might know the ports required, but I’m going to go out and say, they should be a commonly used port assignment for the console, nothing weird.

A quick search on Playstation’s website:

https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psvita/psn/firewall.html

Connections might be prevented by the security measures provided by a router, your Internet service provider or your mobile network operator. In addition to the information provided here, consult the manuals for your network devices and the documentation provided by your Internet service provider and your mobile network operator.

The port numbers used to connect with the PlayStation™Network servers via the Internet are:

TCP: 80, 443, 465, 993, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080
UDP: 3478, 3479

Again, you need to use the firewall to allow those ports access. Not forwards. Forwarding is for outside to in. In your testing you basically allowed traffic to go through with no restrictions at all in both directions. All anyone would need to breach your network at that point would be your public IP address.
