My Laptop is getting long in the tooth (specs below), but it still meets or exceeds the “minimum requirements” provided by Blizzard.
In short, the game is not a good experience on my computer, and I don’t know if it should really be considered “playable” with these specs. I do appreciate Blizzard’s efforts to get the game working on older machines, but revisiting optimization or the minimum specs might be in order.
I will get anywhere from 60FPS to 0.5FPS depending on what is happening in-game and whether I am in an instance or not.
Open world FPS is all over the place. Unsurprisingly, the more that is going on, the worse the FPS gets, but it will run the full range - occasionally even freezing for multiple seconds at a time.
Instanced dungeons are - by far - the best experience, where it stays between 45-60FPS for most of the dungeon, dipping below that when too much is going on on-screen.
The FPS in the engine-rendered cut-scenes is very inconsistent. I can get up to 45 or so FPS in some parts, but it drops to below 1 FPS at other times.
Overall though, it’s a pretty poor experience. If I wasn’t planning on getting a new PC by June (I am), I would likely request a refund.
