Seasons/Battlepass tracks are going to be every 3 months. They are free to play for everyone who has the game, including new content, items, quests, etc. The fancy paid ones grant Cosmetic rewards, or faster access to trivial Battlepass goals. Anything that gives player power is free and not impacted by paid services.
It’s only for season 1. But they do say that there will be in-game currency on the battle pass, and if we’re really lucky then it might be possible to use the currency from the season 1 battle pass to buy the season 2 battle pass.
But in Overwatch 2 they don’t allow this - they put a different kind of currency on the battle pass than is used to buy the battle pass, so don’t count on it for Diablo 4 either.
Also, even if they do allow using currency from one battle pass to buy the next battle pass, you still can only do this if you unlock enough of the battle pass to earn said currency - you’re still roped into paying either with your time or your money if you want every battle pass.
Would be nice if you complete the tracks that you can get the next battle pass. Call of Duty is one that i know that if you complete it you can get the pass next season and then you have like 300 extra points to spend in the shop. But we have not really heard anything of how its fleshed out for Diablo 4.
Yes, but what this doesn’t say is whether this premium currency will be allowed to be used for the next battle pass. Since they say it will be able to be used for cosmetics, it gives them an option to say it can’t be used on the next battle pass, but it doesn’t prevent them from allowing it either.
It’s also possible that we will be able to use the currency towards the next battle pass, but it won’t be enough on its own to buy it, and that a cash supplement will still be needed.
My question is will it be like Call of Duty where you earn currency throughout the battle pass so if you finish it, you have enough points to buy the next season’s pass for free.
Thanks for clarifying, as I have been looking for something like this myself. Hopefully it happens w/ the currency so you don’t have to buy the battle pass by paying more and you can support the game ADU count because generally maxing a pass every season is quite a bit of work.
Wife: Honey we are having chicken, corn and salad for diner tonight.
Husband: Are you sure we are not having Pizza, you never said we were not having pizza.
So, just to confirm, your interpretation of this statement is that it will not be possible to use said premium currency to buy the next battle pass, right?
Not saying you’re right or wrong, just wanting to make sure I’m understanding you correctly.
They already told use what the currency could be use for. It is not my place to second guess. Or, interpret comments to conform to my views. "It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.” - Sherlock Holmes. It’s does not really matter to me because I will most likely not spend money on a cosmetic Battle Pass.
Well, doing that risks getting your account banned for third party real money trading. You also risk giving financial information or account information to large criminal organizations who run most of those. They use stolen accounts to strip for sellable things, advertise their services, etc. Then of course those get banned too.
According to https://gamerant.com/diablo-4-battle-pass-explained-cosmetic-price-tier-rank/, “Diablo 4’s Battle Pass will apparently cost $10 worth of in-game currency”.
This could be interpreted to suggest that the premium currency can be used to buy the battle pass. That said, this is a third party website saying this, not Blizzard, so they could be wrong.
It’s also possible that the “in-game currency” they are talking about isn’t the “premium” currency, and that the premium currency can only be used for cosmetics.
My understanding paying for the Battle Pass gives your in-game currency to spend on Cosmetics. You can however earn the next Seasons’ Battle Pass for free by playing the seasonal content and upgrade your Battle Pass. Gut feel is in-game currency expires within the season and cannot be brought forward so you can never keep rolling currency across seasons into a huge amount, there will be a limit even if you pay for the Battle Pass.
