Please remove door mechanic in dungeons

beside door that open to boss or required a key which makes sense.
the rest of other doors are meaningless. they serve no real purpose. I’m talking about door that you have to open from room to room. why is it there just to slow my pace? you can’t even close them after it opened.
then again what is the purpose of having those doors, just annoying extra works devs put into the game code.

Someone complained about the door thing in dungeons a long while ago.
We all laughed and rolled our eyes then, just like now.

He wants to go from point A to point B as fast as posable without having to do anything along the way.
This way he can one shot everything without having to think about anything. Go speed racer go.

There’s nothing to think about. The monsters can open the doors too, and they get very tedious when you’re trying to move against a timer (pit), or hell, anywhere else. It isn’t one of the more endearing mechanics in the Diablo series. We’ve been asking for the doors to be removed in Keeps maps for years with D3. There’s a reason nobody likes these maps. Tedium in the name of “flavor” has aged like old milk.

Answer me, what purpose to doors serve? And is it worth having to set stuck on them every 5 seconds?

Why stop with just the doors remove the walls and the trees and the rock formations and the stairs and the water and anything else that might get in the way of Skippy. What next just turn D4 into an unimpeded speed race.

TTRPG throwback, doors were always the toughest, most annoying, enemies.

They prefer to toy with you.

I think non-instanced doors exist only because artists like them. The ‘best’ kind are the ones with elaborate mechanisms that take 4 seconds to activate. Teleporting through walls doesn’t work if there’s a door in that wall… so, yeah. Artists.

IMO, the doors between rooms act as triggers to load the resources/action needed for the next room.
You may notice that sometimes the next room is empty or the monsters are not moving, but after we open the door, the monsters will immediately appear or will start running towards us. These doors will help the game performance better and smoother.

this is my generous thought, but there are times where I can see nameplates through walls with closed doors. I know Blizzard has been trying to get all their games to have minimal loading screens between zones. I’m sure slowing the player down artificially helps with that. I would rather take a windier path then click on doors though :stuck_out_tongue:

Just make doors destroy-able objects like most everything else in a dungeon.

yep, just like they did in D3 after the very same complaint

Apparently people have forgotten the horror of learning that The Butcher could open doors (aside from his own) in D1

Yeah, I remember them being SUCH an annoyance in D3 with my Tempest Rush monk…lost all of my dmg stacks coz I had to click on a door

With regular changes to builds/skills etc…I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future a particular build will be encumbered by this feature…

Common sense… you can open the door but you can’t make them walk through.

There are not that many doors. What there are make sense.

I also agree, or at least have 90% of the doors already open. I get having a couple closed but damn my door opening glyph is maxed out and cant get any higher…

In principle “doors in this dungeon” makes sense. In practice, certain layouts are total gibberish. In those layouts, the doors enhance the gibberish, esp if there’s lots of them. Doors in D4 dungeons are often a liability - the exceptions are usu doors around fixed objectives, which have been thought-out & put into context.

Still, I wonder about teleport being stymied by normal doors in D3/D4, when not in D2.

this is why i hate the gauntlet: friggin doors, every where. and they all take 4 seconds to open. a complete waste of time, that’s what doors are in this game.
