Please just give us map overlay (critical review of in game nav)

It’s time to admit failure here.
Navigation in the overworld is not good. Whoever designed the pin system did so in a vacuum. even if you ignore entirely the fact that the pin system is buggy, it is a sloppy approach to good navigation. We are still running around, ignoring content, with our eyes glued to the top right of our maps.

To the developers who may read this, the solution is not “oh, we’ll just make the pin system better!” It’s map overlay.
In a complete vacuum, when you’re in a safe area (IE at a dungeon entrance or a major town), the pin system works great. When you’re navigating the world (getting altars of lilith for instance), you have to stop, bring up a map that covers your entire screen (and is not transparent at all), figure out where your next pin is going to be (while being attacked and chased and potentially knocked off your horse, and then waiting 30 seconds for it to come back). The fact of the matter is the world is full of monsters and stopping to set a pin while trying to move quickly and efficiently is not fun or even functioning. Stopping to kill every enemy in a 2 screen radius (or more, if they run away from you and aggro more) before you can safely set a new pin is a horrible experience and I’m tired of using this system. PLEASE, give us overlay.

When I still played, my sorc died a lot from some random out of the blue mob coming up and killing me when looking at the map. A translucent map would help.
