The mass reporting system needs to be addressed. I should not be able to report a guy and get him banned/chat sus’d for mass reporting him. This is a very world of warcraft troll vibe and will continue to be abused. If you and half a dozen friends all report the same guy at the same time he will be forced to change his name or will received a chat silence. There is no physical human actually reviewing these claims. It’s just a button that everyone can hit. We tested it out. Here’s the results.
character A : Hasn’t logged in in over 45 days. The group all reported him at the same time. That character got an email saying he was in violation of blizzard TOS and his account had been temporarily suspended.
He contacted blizzard to let them know the account was inactive and hasn’t logged into battlenet in over 45 days. The mass report was done a day ago. Today he received an email saying he was suspended due to violating the rules.
He emailed blizzard stating “I haven’t logged in in over a month so how did I get suspended for an infraction this week”?
Blizz response: We found you’re account suspension was valid and will not be overruled.
Are we going to act like this isn’t happening and continue the WoW mentality of abusing mass reporting? I’m just letting you guys know that if you mass report someone even if they’re in active from the game. They will infact, be banned or chat silenced or have to change character name. Even if your in game name is “Tony”
Many friends have many accounts due to “peer banning” which is the worst form of trolling, but blizzard gives it 2 thumbs up, like their cosmetic sales priority over the craft of a game.
I’ll be awaiting a YT vid when the leaderboards come out. I’m sure there will be tons of reddit posts for the top 10 players getting banned from mass reports. Same thing happened with Diablo immortal. After you lose the game they give you an option to report the clan that beat you
This has been the norm for Blizzard and their customer service for years now. They have become one of the most incompetent and player unfriendly gaming companies ever.
The only times it happens are when people say dumb crap, use dumb names, or contrive dumb situations to show how “bad” mass reporting is by organising their friends to mass report themselves.
What’s funny about this thread is that if you had posted the same thread on the WoW forums they would have swarmed you there and mass reported your thread as well.
That last persons post has me wondering just how many accounts he/she has and how many people he/she has gotten banned using those accounts by flagging anyone whose posts he or she didn’t like…In all likelihood it’s in the hundreds of thousands
A player’s name tell a lot about them. Most of the sassy / rude chat come from players with ridiculous names, e.g., Gankenstein, SkillCosby, TotalRecalGirlOOO, etc.
This is 100% the case… i was reported by a group of toxic players for having an opinion they didnt like and the blizz bot literaly emails you and tells you its a blizz bot that pretty much flags your account after a certain number of reports. I tried contacting a GM about it with a ticket and they said i broke terms of service… i literaly typed nothing wrong and because of a group of players that can type all kinds of vulgar stuff including slurs i got my account muted. This is a legit problem no matter how much people want too argue it. The fact is all the “GM” had too do was look at the chat and they can easily see who was being toxic and who wasnt… im so confident in my case that i wasnt expecting too get that type of reply from a “GM”. I disabled trade chat and plan too never type in an “multiplayer” game again… i almost feel like i have been targeted by a group of toxic players who keep spam reporting me because i literaly got off a 2 day mute then BAM my account was flagged again. I spent 40$ this season and now i legit am too scared too even play
it’s not about what you say, it’s just about how many players report me
you can get banned for a “hello”, it’s all about the quantity of reports
why is that? everything is automated to save costs and the system has not yet reached the age of ai.
Until you meet a real person in support, you can first work your way through a lot of automated processes and then you can only hope that a human will really look at the reason for the ban and undo it.
I have been banned from these forums multiple times for simply having a contrary opinion. Not even saying anything offensive. Just for having an opinion that ran counter to the popular one. That’s all it takes. You don’t have to do anything wrong.
I thought it took an actually person to ban you, is that automated?
I think silences are automated but bans are not.
MissCheetah is the expert on this stuff, she may pop in and set us all straight, haven’t seen her much lately though……that’s a hint if you’re reading girl!
If you read what i typed… bans are automated… you literaly get an email from blizz explaining how it works… this isnt “fake news” and it is a legit problem
