Visually the fonts do play a big part of bringing the diablo feel to the game. The current font choice feels cheap and not iconic to the diablo series. Diablo series as in diablo 1 and 2. Diablo 3 was very out of line in terms of art direction, itemization too.
I don’t mind the font change here as things are supposed to evolve sometimes. Yeah I agree with D3. It was modeled after WoW though. So that makes sense that it wasn’t even close to the iconic look.
I don’t deny that the new font has better readability. But to people who played the previous versions would definitely feel the impact when they use the old fonts. Or maybe an option to switch to legacy fonts? Haha
Agree. Please, bring back the iconic Diablo font.
The font for stuff on the ground make the game feel like a B-grade Diablo clone. Add the original Diablo exocet font. Maybe add a setting to change the font from the current one to exocet. aaa
As a graphic designer, the mix of fonts hurts my soul. I don’t mind the fonts being different from D1, D2, or D3, but let’s have a little consistency please. Don’t be mixing serif and san serif fonts together. Pick one style and flow it through out the game.
Exactly! I feel you! I’ve noticed they did use the original diablo font when you enter a new zone. And it shows on the top right of the screen for pc players. But the mixing of font types. And also honestly I feel the san-serif font used for dropped items makes the game feel very mobile/cheap.
Yeah. They basically used a very common font in d3… it bugged me from the moment i saw it and still does today. To not have a custom font in a game comes across as really cheap and amateur.
What boggles my mind is they did have a custom font for things like the speech boxes. It must have been the same rationalisation that said using Arial is fine in the ui that said loot shouldn’t drop for your character and is better from a real money auction house.
Gotta make sure the Hellen Kellers out there can tell a 5 from an S.
