In games like Lost Ark you can just activate ultrawide in options without it having to change resolution. Don’t know how it works, but shouldn’t this be easy to implement in D4?
At least have ultrawide resolutions showing up in graphics settings. My LG C2 42" OLED support ultrawide natively, but i would rather not have to change the resolution on my tv just to be able to run it in 3:1 ultrawide.
Options like this would be the best for both worlds. Keep in mind, you can play the game in a window or set a custom resolution in your GPU settings, to get an ultrawide ratio, if PVPers or players want to.
People advocating for black bars or fog of war on any ratio past 16:9 do not have the right approach. I don’t care for PVP and don’t care for any competitive speedrunning. I just enjoy the game in 21:9 playing with my friends and farming for loot. I shouldn’t be forced to have black bars and essentially ruin the experience for me because PVPers don’t want to adapt to ultrawide monitors or set ultrawide resolutions on their 16:9 monitor.
But you might and can have that option at any time, which then leads to it being an advantage… They need to strictly enforce 16:9 if there’s any online competitive element involved, pve or pvp. Fog of war is the best solution.
Simply because someone doesnt have a display that natively supports widescreen resolutions doesnt mean that everyone should suffer.
I guess with that logic, we should find who has the worst graphics card playing and in pvp limit EVERYONES framerate to the average that is capabale of… or the worst connection and bring everyones latency to that level?
Seeing more is an advantage sure, but you can create custom resolutions and simulate widescreen on any display… I did it, and it was comical with the sorc. Now, I can get on board with limiting casting/skill ranges, because even with using widescreen, its just dumb to be able to do anything that far away.
So my experience should be ruined because there’s a barely competitive, non-esports PVP mode in the game that I might play one day? What a stupid comment.
There will be hardware and peripheral differences/advantages in every single game. It’s the nature of PC gaming. When I played competitive counter-strike: source like 15+ years ago and only got 30fps, you didn’t see me crying at people who could maintain 100fps constantly.
