I would gladly play Diablo IV (and I waited for it for a long time), but I will never buy a game that has russian localization and doesn’t have the Ukrainian one - it is just like we are the people of the second sort. No more.
Please don’t mingle politics in this forum. This is not the place.
If you don’t want to use Russian localization, you can always use English if you are not happy with localization options.
Please stop saying that “I perfectly understand russian just because I’m Ukrainian” - it’s offensive.
wow thats the same as saying “yo use spanish instead of english, u will somehow understand it”
Both of you just stop first of all VSReva its just common knowledge that most Ukrainians know the russian language , secondly you can use English if you dont like the russian language in the game its not that big of a deal .
English is not my first language and still pick it and never complain why my first language is in any other game , its just a language if you cant bare the feeling of whatever it is you feel dont buy the game and play something else its not that complicated but if you think that a company will hire and record plus write all the texts again in Ukrainian for you because you complained about it i highly doubt that will EVER happen so get over yourself.
And mr JohnSmith all the guy did is told him that he could use another language and like i explained above 80% or more of Ukrainians speak or at least understand russian its even has the same letters its obvious VSReva here is trying to get attention because of his political beliefs which is stupid to bring it into a video game and its not the same of that thing to tell someone that obviously understands english and russian very well to get over his feelings and use a language that he understands and just play the VIDEO GAME
That’s partially true, but it doesn’t mean it’s ok. I.e. I physically feel sick when hearing or reading russian (too ugly associations, too damaging experience), so I won’t use russian localization in any game (even though I do understand it).
I’m saying that the “Ukrainians understand russian, so we can save some money on localization” attitude is offensive and I have to speak about that (because people can’t read thoughts).
I would probably play in English if the game hadn’t russian localization, but it’s not the case, so I won’t support said attitude. Not for this game, not for any else.
And if you think I’m alone thinking that way, you are greatly mistaken.
Sorry, but why is it offensive please? Can you understand Russian or not?
Is it true or not?
OP understand english because he posts on English forum. But of course, if he doesn’t like to play in English, the game provides Russian too, which he understands well because Ukrainian language is like 95% compatible with Russian language. So he can play just fine and get what is going on, at least, if he chooses.
But following your example, it’s like he wants Brazilian instead of Spanish in the menu because of political reasons, despite him being able to understand both languages well. So it’s not matter of Spanish vs English, but Spanish (as in Spain) vs Spanish (Brazilian), apples vs apples.
(I edited my post to give more examples of what I mean.)
I can. Not perfectly, but I can.
It’s offensive, because of historical reasons - we didn’t choose to understand it - it was the result of a combination of genocidal and colonial politics of moskow empire. So the assumption is offending.
Please don’t bring your personal problems and politics into this forum. If you don’t like English, use Russian. You will understand it because it’s similar to Ukrainian.
And if you don’t like Russian, use English. You will understand it because you type very well in English so playing should be no problem.
My post is not offensive, I just give you reality. No politics here please.
infact its not, ukrainian is more influenced by german, polish and turkish than it is by russian, maybe educate yourself before spreading nonsense. Just bc a couple of words are the same, it doesnt mean its the same languague to 95%.
Also 65% of Ukraine are speaking Ukrainian, and in some parts (about 20%) people speak russian. With the rest speaking a mix of it.
So you are actually being racist and biased and disrespectful. should stfo now before reports are flying.
And asking for native language support isnt in any way “political”.
That’s very not true. Ukrainian language has more common words with Polish than with russian. Russians don’t understand Ukrainian at all.
Russian language is not offensive. Its like I would say BMW cars are offensive because of German history. Stupid, right?
Diablo IV has nothing to do with the Ukraine history, please just stop it.
Sorry mate, but my first language is Polish because I was born and raised in Poland and I know very well what you say is NOT TRUE AT ALL. Ukrainian has almost nothing in common with Polish, not more than Russian that is (that would be 5% of words?). Just stop it please.
I’m not saying that. I’m saying that assumption that “Ukrainians should understand russian” is offensive.
Ukrainians not “should” understand it, but they actually do. Being able to speak or understand a foreign language is not offensive. Right?
If you don’t like Russian, use English, I can see your typing is perfect. Problem solved.
My first language is Polish, but I still play the game in English, just like you can.
My experience speaking with Poles is different. Maybe it’s just for you, but anyway it’s not the point.
No, I can’t. I could, If the game hadn’t russian localization, but if I spend money on this game it will strengthen the idea that “Ukrainians understand russian” (because that is what sales statistics will tell the company), so I won’t see Ukrainian localization not in this game, not in many more, so I’m boycotting that and explaining why.
Localization is not that expensive.
So you are Ukrainian living in Poland (I presume, otherwise, if you living in Ukraine, you have small chance of meeting any Poles whatsoever, because not many Poles actually live there), is that right? And you speak English perfectly well, and… you want Ukrainian language in the game.
You know that probably the amount of Ukrainian-speaking players does not justify this economically, right? Blizzard is a for-profit company, they won’t do it because of political reasons. Please stop this politically motivated campaign, it’s pointless.
