As an owner of multiple computers and Xbox consoles (for the partner):
I would love to see this feature implemented. As the devs said, couch co-op adds another layer of “sharing the experience” together.
(it’d be nice to use the souped up pc for both of us = better graphics, higher fps, etc.)

Drawing from the cobwebs of half-remembered developer comments regarding similar PC ‘couch co-op’ experiences (Lan/etc) that used to be part and parcel to Blizzard games, a big part of the issue is that it effectively builds in a very big backdoor that can be walked through by folks pirating the code and building their own servers or cloning accounts, so on and so forth. Its why they stopped including ‘spawned’ versions of their games.
If you have a game attached to the account 1:1 you can track that account and build a natural limit on how many times that individual can show up in the system, preventing folks from having their copy masquerade as someone else or perform other malicious actions. If you then expand the system to allow multiple existences of that same account active at once (two people playing the same account on PC) you introduce more opportunities to get up to shenanigans. This is compared to console, where you are limited by hardware and having multiple characters attached to that subset (its still 1:1 from console to Blizz, though it is 1:X characters on the specific game).
I imagine it isn’t a game software technical issue of allowing multiple characters active per account, but a security technical issue of how it interacts with the Blizz servers.
You can just add -launch to the d4 shortcut, same as d3. They are just lying to you to force more sales>

Cannot express how disappointed I was to hear this after pre-purchasing the game recently. Was looking to play with my wife as we did on console with D3.
If it were possible, I would uninstall and get a refund. Caveat Emptor I guess, but it just seems like a massive oversight.
Please find a solution to this issue if possible.
