Please add build swapping

This should’ve been in on release, but please give us something like we had with the *armory in d3 where we can save builds and swap between them with the click of a button.
The current system where you have to not only undo 2 but 3 different systems (counting seasonal powers) in order to just change ur build is so unintuitive.

Fast build swapping should never be a thing.
If we want a new build, the new character button exists.

If u want to live in the past, go play d2.

Respeccing already exists and it won’t kill the game if they make that a faster and easier process for people to try different builds.

I think an armory type system where you can swap builds would be a great addition to this game. And to be honest, it’s almost inevitable. So why wait? Get it done Blizzard, or Microsoft, which ever the case.

I’d like to see the ability to store a few loadouts, but I think they should have a high cost to unlock and require a specific farming element to getting the mats necessary to reset or modify once finalized in some way. It’s nice to have a pushing build, a speedfarming build, bossing, etc., but I do want there to be some kind of hefty cost to it and at least some minimal incentive to just level another char.

That said, the PoE2 system they’re developing looks pretty nice. Wouldn’t mind borrowing a bit of that.

Curious, but why are you against this?

I’m going to assume purist/gatekeeping because I cannot think of a legitimate reason why someone would be against accessibility

  • Well then you can choose just not to respec or do so seldomly. Is your willpower so low that you need a game system to force you to do this?

I would like to be able to swap between pve/pvp builds.

In case you missed it during the first live letter before Season 2. Joe Shelly and Joe P. responded. Obviously no timeline given as usual.

Oh, I know lol.

Still doesn’t change that they need to add it rather than dangle it as a “will they won’t they”

I figure it’s coming, but not within the next 6 months kind of deal. Loot filter will probably come before this option. Personally speaking I think they should delay the next season and just get all hands on deck to start adding features instead. I know they won’t, but they should.

I would totally agree if the game was more balanced but the fact 90% of the builds cant kill bosses within a reasonable time makes this bandaid fix probably something blizzard will do because its easier than balancing builds.

Build swapping is good. Limit it to 2 or 3 per character along with restrictions on how frequently you can swap.

Considering their “technical” limitations on stash and amount of characters we can have… yes build swapping is inevitable and only a wise choice to keep players from leaving their cosmetic shop release with beta Diablo 3.5 addon. No one wants to have 10 of the same class each with a specific build, because then we would have no room for our stash mule characters lol.

Here here, so many D2 fanboys just Wana carbon copy of a 20 year old nostalgia fest. It’s gross

What is with people and wanting to restrict customizability in a sequel that was intended to have more customizability than previous games?

Give me a good reason why there should be such a limit imposed that has nothing to do with “d1/d2 limited it.”

This is not D1/D2 2.0 and there is absolutely no harm in letting people switch their builds around in the middle of a live service game that could possibly see some builds go from trash to meta and others from meta to trash. U already have the gold costs associated with respeccing.

Easy respecs destroys character builds. Since the charadcter can just be anything whenever it is more beneficial. No build choice, with its strengths and weaknesses, are being made. Hardly gets more destructive for an A-RPG than killing build choices.

Making characters immune to dmg would also be accessible. But nonetheless bad design.

Agreed, that should be possible. Just auto-switch when entering a PvP zone.

Adding a bad thing on top of a bad thing is not an improvement.
Fix the original issue instead.

If there was a significant limit on the frequency, like, multiple weeks, then maybe.
Still, preferably not.

D1 and D2 are irrelevant for any of this.
It is just basic build design. If you can change build against every enemy, there is no build. The very core of what an a-RPG is disappears.

A gold cost that has become increasingly meaningless.
It should be significantly higher.
If there was a high enough respec cost, then saving builds could be okay. But realistically, if you could save builds, the people who push for build swapping will just complain even harder about the cost too.

I’m in favor of something like D3’s armory. Those of us who played it, know that it’s mostly valuable to switch between abilities.

Gear is problematical if you changed it. If D4 implemented D3’s armory, I wouldn’t expect it to be any different.

For example, in D3, the different build types within a class were reflected in discrete, specific armor sets.

In D4, I would not expect it to be any different. For example, I can change my rogue from a Twisting Blades build to Flurry by changing one Aspect in my build.

If did that by replacing an Aspect used on a piece of equipment on the previously saved build, I don’t expect the old Aspect to be restored if I changed back. Those kind of changes should be irrevocable, as they are now.

However, the changes in my basic skill tree are tremendous.

What would work for me is just preserving a copy of my current abilities that I could revert back to.

I’m not saying that changes in gear should not be rolled back, but rather that would be more than I expect, given my experience with D3’s armory.

I’d just be happy with the basic skill tree to be preserved simply so I don’t have to remember what I had before. Whatever it cost to restore it if I did it manually would also be fine with me.
