Solution is tell “your brother” to use his own account.
Also, if you also have a friend of yours coming to your house and wants to play with his own character in couch co-op with you on your console but doesn’t want to log into your console with passwords etc, there is a very easy procedure, integrated in the PS5 system, just for cases like this:
- Tell your buddy to create a PSN account, so he can link it with his Blizzard account in order to have access to his characters.
- When your buddy comes to your house, create a new “Guest” account on your PS5 (the guest account will disappear from the console once it goes to rest mode or is turned off). When you create a “Guest” account a QR code appears, and if he is logged into his PSN account from his phone, he can just scan it and is logged in instantly without typing passwords.

Let me explain… I’m a pc player… Always played on pc… But this time I bought D4 Ultimate on bnet website, can i be able to play on 2nd june starting on my console? And later maybe continue on same account on pc? Please tell me yes… Hopefully i don’t need to buy another “console” d4 ultimate copy just to be able to play the game on console…
If yes… How do i do that? I already linked my psn to battlenet… Do i need to just wait until predownload is active? And then login in game with bnet account linked with the copy of the game?
Thx in advance!
You need to buy another copy for ps. Also ps plus if you want to interact online. If you want to play ea on ps you have to buy ultimate there.
No. You need a copy for each platform you want to play on. If the version you bought is for PC, how would you ever load it up on your PS5? You can however, do this:
Buy the PC version
Buy the PS5 version
Link your PS5 to your battlenet account
Play the same characters on your PS5 and PC (but not simultaneously)
And since it’s an online only game, you will require PS Plus to play it but I’m sure you have that already
Are u sure? This is bs… I bought it from battlenet site… What makes that be a pc version? How did i know it would be only for pc? Hope you are wrong… And about ps plus? What do u mean? Why should i need to pay extra 10 euros per month to play same game as i would play on pc for free per month…
And besides the fact… Let’s suppose i did something wrong… And is as u say… I bought ultimate from site… On my bnet account… Now if u say i need to buy another copy… What copy should i buy? Doesn’t make sense to buy again the ultimate edition right? But if i buy the normal one if is like you say… How would i be able to accomplish what the ultimate give as bonuses in the ps copy standard version? Makes no sense…
Thx
I’m definitely sure. You bought it through bnet. That means it’s PC. If you want xbox you buy it through microsoft store. If you want PS you buy it from playstationstore.
And as far as PS Plus. D4 is an online only game. That means to play it on your PS4/5 you need to have a PS Plus subscription.
As far as owning 2 copies of the Ultimate Edition, I don’t believe you should need to but I can’t say for sure. Do you not have access to a PC right now is that why you wanna start on PS?
Yep… Can’t play from pc for the moment… Just from ps5 from home…
But you do get my point? What should i buy? Another copy of ultimate? And what would i get? 2 times the bonuses? Hahaha
It’s mad… Hopefully today i’ll speak with some support through chat… Maybe they can drive me through on what i can do… Maybe they can refund me the copy i bought on bnet… So i buy it through ps… And then maybe later when I will be able to play from pc… I might just be able to buy a normal copy… And all will be fixed… Or maybe they can swap my license from bnet to ps… Hmmm
Hopefully they fix this crap…
I think what you wanna do is get the ultimate edition for PS5 and a normal copy for PC. It’s tied to your account so you should retain all the bonuses from the Ultimate Edition once claimed on either platform.
But yea, you will need some kind D4 for each platform. Also you’ll need PS Plus subscription to play it on your PS5.
BagboyBrown is right. I was trying to do the same as you mentioned before, buy on pc and hopefully continue ocassionally on ps5. This is what i found on Blizzard Support (BS…utterly BS).
"Cross-Progression allows you to play a game on PC, console, or mobile while keeping progress and collections across all devices. For paid games, Cross-Progression does not mean that you can buy a game for one platform and then play it on any platform; you are still required to buy the game for each platform.
Cross-Progression is currently available in Call of Duty, Hearthstone, Diablo Immortal, Diablo IV, Diablo II: Resurrected, and Overwatch 2."
Hope this helped as it helped me just now. Total dissapointment.
I have 2 accounts (for me and the kids) and 2 copies of the game.
My game copy is XBOX, whereas the kids version is on the PC.
Tried logging on my Xbox blizzard account via gmail onto PC but battlenet would not detect the game as being installed.
Does anyone know if it’s even possible to play my XBOX account without having to own 2 different device copies of the game for one account?
You have to link the bnet and xbox acount together on the bnet homepage.
I know this is a dead thread and by now most people have figured all this stuff out, but:
I bought the ps5 version of D4, and have been playing since day 1. I’m now watching my brother’s house for a few days, and he bought the pc version on day 1 and has been playing that.
I assumed while I was here I could login to my Battle.net account on his PC, since it’s been downloaded and I have a bnet account that I’ve been using and bought the game with, but if I sign into my account it won’t let me launch it and tries getting me to buy it again.
Is that accurate, that if it is bought on a pc, only the account that bought it can play? Or am I just doing something wrong?
Progress is saved to your Battlenet, BUT you need a license on each device/service to access that account. To play your Bnet account on PS5 and PC you need to buy it on both and have the PS5 account and Bnet account properly linked. Be VERY careful linking. If you mess up you can lose all your progress.
Read all these:
Really?! I’m a blizzard fan, but that is really cheap and low of them. If 2 people are playing on the same PC they both have to buy a copy? I’m not going to risk unlinking my brothers account, and I think less of blizzard now
Yes, that is how Blizzard games have always worked. You don’t have to download it more than once per PC, but you DO need to use your own Battlenet account to access it, and of course your account needs a license.
Blizzard does not allow account sharing, gifting, sale, or transfer in any way. You can’t play on your brother’s account for any reason without risking that account if Blizz found out.
Blizzard also does not have a “buy once and play it on multiple platforms” arrangement with Playstation, Xbox, or Steam. They never have. You have to buy the game on each platform and link those platforms to YOUR Battlenet account. Then you have cross progression on all of them.
I don’t think the matter is entirely in Blizzard’s hands. The console makers want their cut of the money as well.
I do understand that, but ironically there is a workaround on console, but since there’s no couch co op on pc I can’t do it.
On a side note he has a ps4 that I was able to log into my account and then download the ps4 version and I’m playing it now, so at the end of the day it’s fine, but now I’m playing on a console that this was never purchased on/for.
Personally, I think if you have an account that is linked to a pc or console, and you are playing on a system that has the game installed, you should be able to play it.
I get where you’re coming from, but this is absolutely blizzards decision. Either way, I appreciate your response and information!
Pretty sure the Playstation version works on multiple generations of that console. So you can play the Playstation one on both devices with your account. They say PS4 and PS5 on their sales page. Diablo IV - PS4 & PS5 Games | PlayStation (US)
Sort of like you can buy the license for PC and play it on as many PCs as you want - as long as you are logged into your Bnet account on that PC.
sorry for resurrecting old thread again, but I need to clarify something. This is coming from prior experience of having more then one WoW copy on the same bnet account as well as having a copy of diablo 3 on both PC and PS4, attached to the same bnet account. both of these games I can ran those separate copies simultaneously, in case of wow - on the same device and from what I’ve always understood - this was intentional. but its not so with diablo4? meaning that even if I buy a second copy on PC, I won’t be able to use them both at the same time because they are attached to the same bnet, in a complete 180 from how buying multiple copies of blizzard games attached the the same bnet account worked before? I just want to verify before I make any further purchases. thank you
