Playing D4 with a controller

Please, devs, I just wanna know one thing:

I’ve been playing and overall enjoying both the early access and open beta and the only thing that comes to mind whenever I log in is:

How does a multiplatform arpg AAA game being released in 2023 doesn’t have a cursor nor mouse and keyboard support on console???

Are devs even aware that several skills like targeted and movement abilities are utterly awful without the ability to, you know, target where you cast them or move? (I’ve lost count of how many teleports I wasted because of some random breakables, not to mention the huge disparity in the skill range from console to pc where you can teleport to the edge of your screen by aiming there) How does this happen in a game that’s been in development for over a decade? How this was not a concern before the open beta a couple months before lauch?

Personally, I main Sorcerer and feel particularly compromised playing d4 on console. The fact that console players are ultimately weaker because of such a lack of support is unacceptable while in several other games that’s a no-brainer and always present.

PLEASE, I BEG YOU, add a cursor or at least mouse/keyboard support (both if possible) for console players so we can have the option of not being weaker than our pc friends.

+1 we need a mouse/keyboard support for consoles on release.
You can’t play ranged characters like the sorcerer properly on a controller.

Sorry for ruin it for you, but if you want Mouse and Keyboard, play on PC.
You choose to play on Console then you choose to play with a controller.

Simple as that.
If you are not ok with it, switch the system.

I tried both it on PC and PS5. On PC with Xbox controller connected, you can flawless real time switch between KBM and controller. When you touch the controller it switchs to controller interface and as soon as you press keyboard or move mouse it switchs back. Only works with Xbox controller not dual sense tho.
I guess there is not KBM support is because of Blizzard want you to buy it directly from battlenet and play on PC so they will get 100% of 69.99 Euro.
Its luckly for me that my 3070 laptop can run the game with 4K high setting with 80+ fps with normal fan speed. But still not sure if I will buy it on release.

See your point, but I usually play console because I can take it with me when going on trips. Hard to lug around a gaming computer when you take trips.

Is there a reason for this? Pretty much every console today is capable of supporting keyboard and mouse. The only reason I can see is that devs choose not to do it.

The fact that most other games don’t do it isn’t an excuse in my book. Is it somehow harder to support keyboard and mouse on a console than on PC?

Replies like these completely miss the point, but that’s not a surprise. Let me say it again:

It’s not about the platform, it’s about not being able to play properly without the ability to aim targeted and movement skills. Devs should either add a cursor to controller or mouse/keyboard support to fix this, I don’t care which one.

I would not care in the least to play with a controller if I wasn’t significantly weaker because of it.

I agree with you
They should let us aim with the right stick, at least like how we can aim with the right stick in Diablo Immortal which s only a mobile game

Controller feels better except for movement skills. D3 and D2R was the same. I never worried as much with blizzard, meteor etc because it was still viable but teleport feels bad. They need to make it max screen as default. Nobody using teleport as a damage skill. Sorry not sorry.

I think they can solve the problem by let us aim with the right stick like this

I like to see something like right stick to activate small area target for a short period of time. Any skill used will target that area. If no skill used,it goes back to normal combat mode where any skill will target the area the character is facing. How far a skill effect is depended on how much the left stick is tilt.
