Not sure, I’ll probably check it out but if it’s devoid of content like S1 I’ll probably quit before reaching T3
I doubt it. I think an expansion will be needed to draw me back in. Even then, I will wait a few to see the videos on how the gameplay is to make a determination.
Not a chance. There is at least 1+ years before we leave closed beta. 3+ years before we have a solid game. 5+ years before it is decent. 10+ years before it is release ready. This is all based on Diablo 3 time line, and Diablo 4 has more wrong than Diablo 3 had at this time during release.
Unless there are major changes to post 50, I can only see myself playing hardcore from here on out.
Only if Barbs damage output is brought in line with the other characters.
maybe by S10 they will fix the game
this game needed a few more years clearly
Yes, definitely, hardcore mode as ever but with a different character. But I doubt I’ll be going all the way up to 100 next season which is my goal for this season, unless they make a bunch of changes to that. Takes a bit too much time for me and I don’t need it to satisfy my itch.
I’m also curious what the next battlepass and season mechanics will bring. I’m expecting a lot of general changes, and qol improvements by then since Blizzard stated that season 2 is where they are targeting all the bigger changes based on their feedback data, which they couldn’t rework in time for season 1 (which was developed alongside the game and it was too late to change much from launch).
Been playing hardcore exclusively from day 1 in both D3 and D4. You’ve been missing out but better late than never
I have not left. Game is fun so yes i will continue to play through season 2
If they make massive changes for the better of the game? Sure… I’ll give it a whirl, but if I’m playing at it feels as empty as the current game does? I’ll just uninstall and move on til they actually fix it.
Played a rogue to 100 this season, did echo Lilith and T100 just for the accomplishment check marks. I gotta be honest that I dont think Id return for another season unless there is some dramatic changes and much more end game content. The leveling isnt bad, has progression and gear development, but later game 65+ is just boring and unrewarding/fulfilling. This season questline felt like 5-10min of side quests and doesnt align with how the rest of the game goes. I have like 200 of each of the invokers, found my hearts along the NMD path, and havent touched tunnels.
What could they implement to make the experience better for you?
Maybe…if they bring barb dmg output to at least be on par with other top 3 classes.
Dont want any nerf towards the top 3 classes, let them enjoy, but buff barb (and sorc also) damage to match the top 3 classes or at the very least with minimal difference (5-10%)
Also on the side bonus, more of a personal wishlist, replace the Class Designer team since i dont think they know what they are doing
Here’s to hoping…
No.
Complete overhaul might get me back.
That would be a start. Some form of infinite progression would be great as well.
Yes and yes.
Also I’d like to add that hardcore mode is a very DIFFERENT and in a lot of HC players’ opinion much BETTER gaming experience. A lot of the issues that people complain about in softcore mode - boring gear, boring gameplay, nothing to try for etc - don’t really exist in HC. The simple change of making death permanent makes a huge difference in your play experience, mindset, and how you approach everything. And it also gives you a huge rush of adrenaline and endorphins when you have a close call or pulloff a risky challenge.
There are a lot of threads on the HC board (including my posts) that talk about all these things in detail but in short. All gear matters, all stats matter, skill/decisionmaking/awareness matter, good balance between offense and defense matters, well-designed builds with tools for various situations matter. It’s a totally different game and I’d argue how this game is meant to be played.
The only thing that matters in softcore is max dps. So you stack as much of it as possible and ignore defenses, turn-off your brain, rush at mobs, probably die half a dozen times because who cares, and eventually manage to do whatever you’re trying. Literally most of the game design, nuance, and options are totally missing because they are completely irrelevant.
Depends on the season itself. If it’s just low effort content like malignant gems then no. I need more than that to continue to reroll. Also don’t want to do renown ever again. Fun the first time. Ok the second time. Third time is a no.
What I need from the game is better itemization and progression. Game fell apart for me in S1 the same time it did at launch. Right about level 70 where it feels like I’m grinding just to grind. I spend more time looking and selling garbage loot than I care to. I need more carrot less grind.
I do not expect to play season 2. Without an end game that offers significant challenges of at least some variety and the ability to chase pinnacle items, this game is not going to offer the type of post level 100 experience that I’m interested in. Presently, the final notable power spikes a character can achieve happen between level 80-100. Having gone through this leveling process twice and understanding this has very much diluted by enthusiasm for playing in the future.
its just to much , we dont know where to start
they used the same engine with all its limitations/bugs and built a game on it
shareholders want to make more money before the micosoft deal and pushed a half baked game to release. Seems like they dont have much staff and many are working on seasons.
the sad thing now, they cant even give enough stash to players course of the bad code in their engine
to your question:
First thing they need is a test server and a QA TEAM, it cant be that patches, seasons are that buggy that they need many hotfixes and still got only half of the new bugs
then start fixing the bugs!
finish the sorc !! vyrs mastery aspect? whats with the glyph pushing lighting dmg without having a board with lighting dmg? resistance where ? mana reg is a joke? …
there is no endgame and this needs to be added !!!
there is no social life in the game
there are no basic qol functions in the game (like seeing how long someone in the guild has been off)
bosses are boring
to much items where 99.99% is garbage , takes to much time to look all trough and stops the gameplay, this needs qol filters
fix cc and some affixes from the nmd`s
fix the events and scale them with the level
tradingchat with more players then just your shard, open up trade for all items!!
rethink the concept of superunqiues
tbh there is much more ,if i were a dev there i would give everyone a shako for free
