Played PoE waiting for this weekend

I played D4 last weekend and really enjoyed it. To fill in the void until this weekend, I played PoE and also really enjoyed it.

I don’t know how to describe it accurately but PoE felt… meatier. The skill gems are numerous and there’s plenty to try and fill up your skill bar with and just BLAST lots of monsters. Blasting stuff in D4 is fun too… but the opportunities to blast seems fewer and only some skills are powerful enough to blast with. I feel bad for thinking this way because I really want to stan D4 but I didn’t have as much fun this weekend.

Sorry to be that person, but it’s meh to compare a full-fledged released game to an open beta with just 25 levels of playtime.

Did you stop at level 25 on PoE and make the comparison? If not then it’s kinda… moot.

Do you think D4 is more of an isometric MMO like Lost Ark or is it still an ARPG? D2 and PoE are ARPGs but people keep claiming D3 and D4 aren’t full ARPGs because they have MMO elements.

You will restart due to your fail build. I can see it already.

I stopped at level 28 because the D4 beta weekend arrived!

Poe definetly is meatier, it has a decade of seasonal content and a 10 act story.

This has always been a weird way of thinking to me. That new games gets a pass because other games has had years of content.
It’s the typical WoW problem for other new MMO’s. You know what you are up against. You are not competing with WoW from 16 years ago, you are competing with WoW as it is today. The same goes for D4. People will try it and checking it out today not how its going to be a few years from now.

Go look at D3 greater rift gameplay for a glimpse of what is likely in store for D4. D3 and PoE in gameplay end up looking similar imo. It just comes down to the meat and bones on which you would like more. Those will be what ever you feel are essential to you. Like for me its the universe/story and class design. Diablo stands above PoE in that regard for my personal taste.

What’s weird is expecting a new game to have as much content and development as game that’s been added to every 3 months for 10 years.
I bet a lot of what is liked about poe didn’t exist in the game when it released.

It’s not the content that felt meatier, such as the bosses zones and activities. It was the items and skill customization. At lvl 28 I did not get to much content.

However, one of the main downsides to PoE when I played was the dumpy looking characters. Sure you play zoomed out but it’s noticeable when your character is hunched over and pixelated. Just like with D4 druids as well, a lot of people don’t like ugly.

Its a hollow system that falls apart in the end game of POE, you’re forced into playing 3 similar builds that the devs will nerf next season.

That’s where Diablo will be superior, every class will have multiple viable end game builds that are unique to that class theme.

POE really is the spiritual successor to D2. D3 doesn’t come close, and neither does this abomination of a Lost Ark rip-off they call D4.

Are they though? I’ve perused their builds websites and there’s a lot of different builds. It was hard to decide which to try. True I didn’t get far enough to actually try the build but I got to see so many while looking for one.

As mentioned a mite bit unfair to compare a full fledged game to an open beta where you’re level capped at 25 and restricted to the very start of the game.

PoE is a fine game though. I just wish you didn’t have to trudge through the wiki just to have some competent end game build. And I don’t mean minmaxing it, I mean just playing the thing.

I have played PoE till endgame, but I never liked how it looks. After testing D4 (which looks amazing), there is no way I can come back to PoE… will definitely try PoE2 when it comes out, though.

I assume you are getting a refund then? Cool, one less player to overwhelm the servers at D4 launch

No point, because I paid with World of Warcraft gold. Bought 6 tokens with about 1 million gold and redeemed for Battlenet balance.

bruh poe is almost 10 years LMFAO!

D3 is 11 years old but still looks good
