Seems like this is contrary to playing your way.
You must have missed the 200+ replies thread everyone’s been talking in about this subject. It’s ok, I got you fam.
how is this contrary? if you arent playing that build, salvage it. is someone forcing you to do something you dont want to do by gifting you free legendaries?
the problem with set items it makes EVERY other legendary pointless, and locks you into “required” items and now you can only wear what benefits that skill… because 400 % damage increase is nothing compared to set bonus of 2000 %… it made target farming a specific item a requirement in D3… sure you can use Legendary gem with a full set of ancients to do equal or greater dmg, but the ramp up time is X10 as long as just finding 5 items and RoRG. in terms of D3
if they dont make them Lopsided power level increases then they can work. but then your asking for 6 items or so to be made that take away the uniqueness of the “aspect” system and balancing becomes a nightmare…
i wouldn’t mind a 2-3 item set, but not like D3 again. POE has zero set items and people like every item that drops there because they ALL have some value to someone.
we dont have set items in d4
It’s amazing how up in arms some posters are to how OTHER people might play the game. They act as if build specific uniques and aspects don’t already exist in the game.
Dude, this is like your local Grocery Store giving you free samples of new Baked Goods items they want you to buy. They are highlighting and trying to promote players to play underutilized builds. By giving you the Legendary Set, they are enabling players to try something they would not otherwise try.
Honestly, I think if they were to put in a functional Testing Grounds with a Training Dummy you can calibrate and have it attack you also complete with allowing full respec of Paragon, Skills, Glyphs at different levels, Aspects, level, the whole 9 yards, this would fix most problems. Players could definitively benchmark things, see what is broken, and explore different builds.
you dont see what is happening… the are removing the difficulty of the game and making it less desirable to those who are willing to work for the power gained by collecting items naturally.
think of it this way. its like the 2nd amendment, as soon as you see a new law to restrict your rights although it may not “stop” you from using them, it is a warning sign that if left “unchecked” they will keep pandering to those who want the handouts and make the game no longer any fun… at a point you log in, collect your end game gear, run the max level dungeon within 10 minutes of making your character then quit… why pander to this audience… it is going to ruin the devoted fans from wanting to try all the hard work of the seasonal content that was made.
just as much as you have your opioion of what the game should be, you have to know others will have other ideas to how to improve the joy of the game. no need to start pointing out this, its a forum, it should be free and unfiltered for idea farming for devs to listen to there playerbase and maybe inspire the next gaming generation to look at things another way. we are all here to have fun.
the one way to truely not upset the “split” in freebies or not players would be “set server rules”… login to the server with freebies to play this season, or login to the server with fresh start mentality… then everyone is happy right ? but that might be unreasable for devs to do atleast on short notice. and the temptation to not take a free item when your friends take it and gain so much more power that you cant keep up when you jump into a dungeon together doesnt help.
You can get a full meal at Costco thanks to their free samples, just saying, best money I never spent.
This right here is all I needed to see to understand why you’re saying the dumb stuff you’re saying.
They’re not introducing set items. They’re not forcing you into anything. They’re not changing existing legendarys or uniques as part of this free gift (that you have to work towards and most likely will just salvage when you get it either because you don’t want to use it, or already have a better version, or you want the aspect but the item its on just flat out sucks).
They game is only getting easier because numbers tell them that the vast majority of the player base is not getting to, or past level 50-60, or in to or past WT3.
They want everyone to get to WT4 and experience the majority of end-game, the bosses, uber lilith etc… (don’t necessarily want everyone to kill her, but to fight her).
The changes are both to allow that to happen, and to fix a number of issues that exist in the game. It has nothing to do with D3 set item power creep (which contrary to popular belief happened over many years - they didn’t just go from “legendarys” to “set items that do 60,000% damage”).
The whole 2nd amendment analogy is wrong and irrelevant, because you actually don’t understand that amendment in the first place.
This game is nothing like the game that said play your way. That went out the window with all the difficulty.
I think in the past seasonal journey has always rewarded random legendary drops. It just so happens that this time it’s more or so on a specific build. I’d think:
-
The build is merely a kick starter and NOT optimized; you won’t last on that for long. If for anything, you get the build to get other things you actually WANT more easily; I think that’s probably their intention
-
They didn’t say you’ll get everything at the beginning of the journey; it could very well be by the end you will have a full set, which means by then you probably don’t even need it.
-
D4 is all about mix and match different pieces. There’s no set items that force you into specific items. Maybe aspects get slightly more constrained when it comes to defense in the past but with tempering and armor cap that restriction also gets more relaxed.
It may not be perfect but it’s still better than just random stuff that are usually useless
i dont get that part to be honest. everyone can play the game in any way one wants. however, i disagree that this calls for changes in said game.
that granted, im also unsure about the items gifts in the seasonal journey, as it sends me, and others, a lot of d3 vibes. But im willing to see how it turns out =D
how is this change anything? sure maybe its a good starter set but its not mandatory that you use the items.
I don’t plan on playing the Druid build that the set gives me. so I am playing it my way. this just seems like whining because of D3
It amazes me too - very strange behaviour
I think the “Play your way” was more to get people to get a hankering for a burger, like their KFC or whatever promo b4 D4 release.
Does this in anyway stop someone playing the build they want? You make a bold statement but back it up with absolutely nothing…
As a player am I forced to only use those items, or is this Blizzard just helping some people into the end game?
They have clearly stated on multiple occasions many players are not experiencing the end game, so this seems to be their way of helping those players into that part of the game/ How this has any impact on you whatsoever I have no idea; its not like these sets have set bonus affixes or anything?
Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Season journey rewarding gear at all is a mistake imo. Just make it cosmetic rewards.
