Platinum Currency Code Not Working

I play this game on the PC and live in the UK.

My son does not play any Blizzard games, however, he recently bought me a platinum currency code as a gift; it was specifically for the UK so that is not the issue.

The code cannot be redeemed and there is no reference as to why, given that it is not a region lock issue. It is also 20 digits long which is apparently the correct length for a PC code.

Looking into the matter I found reference in a thread that platinum cannot be gifted, and that one needs to have accounts linked as friends for a number of days, etc.
However, given that the purchased code was made independently of any account that should not be an issue.

I doubt I am the only one to encounter this issue, so is there anyone who has any useful insight into the matter?

Thank you.

That’s where you get help. These forums are a wasteland no ABK employee will ever enter.

Thank you though, and a ticket has already been submitted; we will see if I get a reply back in the estimated 24 hours.
Given that these currency codes are sold by legitimate 3rd party sellers such as Amazon for example it does seem to stray into the area of Trading Standards, etc. But that does sound like a last resort.

*fingers crossed
Have a nice weekend!

I don’t know of any third party “platinum” codes for PC that would be valid. My understanding is that it has to be purchased directly from Blizzard using a valid payment method or Battlenet Balance. You can buy or get Bnet Balance cards, but those are a bit restrictive.

Platinum can’t be directly gifted on PC. You can gift Battlenet Balance which someone can then use to buy Platinum on PC. There are a LOT of restrictions related to it though, and it requires a new purchase, not someone gifting bnet balance already on their account.

With regard to the Amazon codes. I had to look that up given I play PC and had not heard of it. That seems Console related so you would need a copy of the Console version in order to claim it.

Thanks for your reply. However, as you later pointed out Amazon do in fact sell such codes and are as such a third party.

If you access Amazon UK for the exact same product, you can see that the code is valid in a substantial number of countries, including of course the UK. Regrettably a link cannot be included to make it easier.

Meanwhile I will await a reasonable period of time for the anticipated response to my ticket before considering if this merits being taken further, but as I commented above I doubt I am the only person who is encountering this issue.

Yes, for CONSOLE though, not for PC. They are very specific about that. If you are having issues claiming a Console code you would want to take that up with the Console maker through their support system.

Since the example given was from Amazon, it seemed disingenuous to pick up on that point and continued the discussion regarding third parties and validity of codes.

However, more importantly due to the help in how to contact the support team, and the prompt and helpful response from them the code has been redeemed.
BTW PC codes are 21 not 20 digits long.
