Pits are annoying due to drop rate issues

Hey pepps
I must compare now pits to GR’s from diablo3 since they are basically the same.
I loved making GRs in d3, since you had always “jump” of adrenaline, many drop + chance of ancient item, even primal ancient item did work pretty well.
In diablo4 we have situation that you spam Pits only to level up glyphs since drop of rest of items are shame.
What do you think?

What exactly are you expecting to drop from pit runs? While the top tiers of the pit are the most difficult dungeons in the game, it was previously used as a measuring stick and nothing more really. The uber bosses, infernal hordes, world bosses and such are considered the end game content. The aspect of leveling your glyphs and opening new world tiers was moved to the pit because there was really no use for people to run them after clearing 101 in previous seasons.

I’m thinking msybe about giving people a chance to get too uber uniq’s from them maybe.
Many people’s complaining uber uniq’s can’t drop for them so they can have a additional sources of loot. It’s a fast idea, not perfect, but at least i think can attract more people to do pits not only for glyphs…

Essentially mythics can drop anywhere and from anything in sanctuary. The chances are ultra low. The highest chances are from Duriel and Andy in tier 4 but those rates are still set intentionally low.

Not true at all. In S4 and S5 Pit 60+ was regularly dropping at least 2 GAs almost every single time. Now you get… something I will get banned for.

I’m having at least 1GA sometimes (they are so rare lol) when i finish a pit 90+ run. The problem (in my opinion) is that not many classes can reach those tiers, and if they do it’s only because they are a heavy meta build, but even with that they really struggle and spend a lot of time doing a clear.
I’ve been thinking about the state of the game since a few days already and i changed my opinion on all the new systems and i like most of them, but i feel like item drops are pretty much like a gambling machine, if you are lucky, NICE, if you’re not then you might fall into an item grind loop.
I understand that i’m not gonna get all the perfect items in 1 week, and i don’t really want to. But at least get useful ones to hold until the good ones.

I think your post is incoherent and unintelligible. Can you rewrite it so it makes sense?

That is not just the pit. I literally ran about 200 Duriel fights yesterday and the day before and the amount of non-ga drops we got was staggering for an end game boss. They literally said ancestral uniques and mythics were made more powerful items so would drop less to make them feel more special. Maybe they went a tad overboard on the “drop less” part but this was all stated in pre-release reviews and campfire discussions.

This is true, but i think i talk for most of the people when i say that nobody expeected that “drop less” had to be like this severe.

I know, they said the drop rates for ancestral is lower. But I also didn’t expect it to be that abysmal. I think I haven’t seen a single legendary item from all the tormented bosses I did. Maybe 1-2 max and they were regular legendaries. The drop rate for ancestral uniques is fine, but the ancestral legendaries are rarer than uniques. I kid you not, I have 2 tabs with ancestral uniques and barely 1 tab with ancestral legendaries, 90% of which are half-useless…

Oh trust me… I get what you are saying and agree it needs to be adjusted. Literally ran 200 full group runs at just Duriel. 3 mythic drops for me and roughly the same for the others in the party (+/-1). mostly just got uniques and legendaries. maybe a handful of ancestrals

True story bro, 2 days ago i runned duriel with friend and when Tyrael dropped i only thought “sigh, again tyrael”?
There is no excitation…

I think OP is going off the fact that now that pits are for leveling glyphs (which are very much the legendary gems of D4) the form and function of pits is now nearly identical to D3’s grifts except those also gave good loot.

I wouldn’t mind them getting a buff in drops myself but they are missing something crucial that made grifts a bit more fun (which honestly is map variety, interesting monsters & interesting monster combinations, but those are things D4 as a whole lacks) so I wouldn’t want to spend more time in them.

Blizzard took a turn with their game play design many years ago. WoW vanilla through wrath of the lich king was fun and felt challenging in the top content. Then came the idea of dumbing things down so everyone can do everything… diablo 4 seems to exemplify this philosophy to a tee. Make it fast and easy with instant gratification and people will buy it. problem is they lost what made these type of games great, a steady character progression to push to the top end game content. Clearing pit 150 or as close to it as possible is the only “push” content for 0 rewards… its disappointing really but i still like playing D4

For loot it’s hordes, helltides, or nmd’s.

Yeah, More Kool-Aid There is nothing all that special about gear in this game. Set items in D3 had more appeal. But that got thrown out the window in favor of endless grinding with the hopes that people would tire of the grind and just go buy the items they want. Well it worked But not for me. I will never give in to the scum that ruin these games. And the Dev’s should be ashamed for listening to them. And yes streamers are all in that RMT :poop:.

Last I checked the only gear available for purchase is cosmetic only skins.

Oh knock it off, You know good and well what I’m talking about.

I clearly don’t unless you mean Diablo trade. I’m a very casual player as in 2 or 3 times a week for maybe 3 hours due to work and while I think the drop rates are a bit too low I also see Blizzard’s side of thing were people could just blitz for a week and have a complete set of dream pieces then they disappear for months until next season.

I agree with you.
Old system with Nightmare dungeons was much better.
