Just now, trying to do a level 51, I’m continuously dying to the fallen shaman boss with the mechanic that summons the bone walls/explodes them, along with the red spirit effect.
I’m dying without seeing any broadcasted ability, or when it’s broadcasted there is no time to react. I really don’t understand what I’m supposed to do. I get to the boss with 3/4 of the timer remaining, then proceed to die to mind bullets or an extremely short projected ability until the timer is over. The projected abilities I do not have the time to avoid, the others are just deaths without any projection, zero shown impact/interaction, etc.
Is there a video setting that is preventing me from seeing any obvious ability windup? Are the projections there just to show you that you’re probably about to be 1 shot? I really don’t understand what else I’m supposed to do. This is all considering that this is a fairly low to average level pit. Am I supposed to just skip out on the pit when I see this boss? This boss combo? Any time I see this red spirit affecting the boss?
Yes, I’m talking about a lower level rift, no, I’m not interested in playing an overperforming build. I want to talk about ability to survive these mechanics, not the ability to kill the boss in .0029 seconds.
The pit is not well thought. I think they rushed it, like pretty much everything else in the game. Take a look at the goblin event …
It’s hard to makes sense of what is going on with the game’s progression. It’s almost like they do it on purpose. One cannot make sense of this chaos. Other explanation is that the game’s code structure is so bad, they can’t really balance the game right.
I can’t believe that this is corporate’s decisions on how the game evolves. it’s the team, they have no experience with game design / code structure.
The Pit idea is very bad (this is trash comparing to D3 Greater Rift which was an Excellent Idea!)
You have one solution: change character to barb…which is over buffed and always favorized by Blizzard Team.
but D3 was total trash too, so what’s the difference in absolutly same activities? In D4 you don’t need to pick up shards at least. I might be missing smthing but D4 is basically D3 2.0 so why are you upset, you should be happy? I’d like to hear POV of d3 player.
I played D3 from the beginning being non stop in the first 10th place Leaderbaord…it has fantastic clear mechanics, meta system, Greater Rifts and others. Paragon lvl 7.5K, no seasons.
So I know what I talk about.
D3 was destroyed by Blizzard in last 3 years, that`s why I left D3.
D4 is horrible and each idea which they bring here is broken and not developed well.
so you are basically missing leaderboards and infinite paragon? And some other QoL? Well it’s not that crucial. I think they will add it, maybe except paragon.
I missing mechanics, META system, simple and logic Skills system, basic amount of materials (not like in D4 where 50% of materials are nonsense), clear and logic Itemization, followers, Vaults, Gear Sets, paragon system, etc
In D4 looks like they wanted reinvent the wheel with new team which had no idea what they are for.
Well…S4 is my last before I say goodbye to Blizzard and switch to PoE2.
well tbh all things that you mentioned from my pov is terrible in D3, but tastes differs.
I am also looking forward to PoE2. But i am mostly Poe player, i just think that for D3 players Poe2 may not be suitable at all, but i hope each of us will find something interesting there too =) GL!
oh sh D3 player rage? Man i just want someone to clarify to me what can be more interesting in absolutly same activities in both games from my pov. Cuz for me those games are absolutly the same, but D4 had a bit better itemization and open trade.
if you look at every single small content release from Bli$$, the smallest release, like the goblin event, it’s SUPER bugged and VERY disappointing. It takes around one year for them to fix it, look at nmd t100 before the loot reborn.
Looking at these patterns, I am 100% sure, without any doubt, the future looks chaotic, boring and disappointing. DO NOT expect more from them, if you do you will be deeply disappointed.
I will say this. Why not release less content and when you do, make sure it’s not chaotic and disappointing, like loot reborn.
What’s with the seasons every 3 months? Why 3 months? Oh … it’s PoE that you copy. Don’t. Make your own content. Do you even have a creative team in place? If yes, what are they creating?
You keep people engaged with game mechanics, because they love to play the game! Not because of the casino style game culture that infected all the market.
I think that from the beginning they don’t want to make it D3 2.0 but somehow at the development stage they used D3 engine, yeah surely upgraded it a bit, but all core mechanics here are from D3. From my pov it’s impossible to build good ARPG with good longevity on D3 core mechanics(borrowed powers, scaling, gen/spl, item powers and etc. - all of this just not suitable for ARPG, this is an MMO mechanics) and if it’s already in the core you can’t change it. Surely some bandaging like tempering for example, now it’s not primals but it have GA(1-3GA) and etc. But overall all of this is D3.
And when they realized it - was already too late. That’s why for example they talked a lot about how GRs are bad for the game as end-game loop and then just added them and etc. They just don’t know what to add more.
I just don’t see any ways for this game to be good for a long time, it can be fresh for 1st seasons with those bandagin but overall at the end the day we still get D3 and it’s kinda stale already. Maybe i’m wrong, i’m not game dev, but from my POV this game is doomed and nothing will save it, again, in a long term.
i failed to see anything new in this game, well if you count open world as a new feature - surely. But it lost absolutely all it’s purpose after changing the end game loop to pit, because 99% of your time you stand in the city, well, OK, you can go to helltide, but who knows why it was needed at all with this end game loop.
D4’s gameplay is not D3’s. I think this is the core of D4, the gameplay. D3 evolved into something that I didn’t like. The pit is something that D4 evolves into something that people won’t like. The pit is fine, it is, with some balancing it will deliver., BUT not as an end game loop. Maybe the pit will serve as a gear / build testing ground, but not as a farming activity like it is now.
I think if they focus on gameplay as in creating situations where it gives you pleasure from the playstyle perspective, this will do fine. The base is there. I remember the situations I was getting out of in nmd before the loot reborn. That was very fun and something new in my opinion. The claustrophobic feeling where the mobs would push you in a corner and you somehow escaped, that was new and very engaging. I don’t know if that was scripted … but it really pushed my buttons. They moved away from that, this is more focused on casino / slot machine feeling, not the adventure / strategy style feeling. I think they had a good start …
