D4 has a dark mature atmosphere. Those pets don’t fit in. It seems they are coming from a pet game for young kids. I went for the dog for my Druid build but it looks just like the one from Nintendogs my 5 years kid used to play. Can you imagine a Necro, all bones and skin with a cute little baby tiger following him?
Well Guess what Bucko,
They are Here and they are here to stay, you may not like it but you gotta deal with it. Is there an Option to not wanting them though? Should be if there isn’t.
They will add more evil looking pets like D3 has with the new expansion I am sure.
I have no problem with pets. I think it is a nice addon to the game. First thing I did after the update was to get mine. I just don’t understand why they look like toys for kids. They don’t blend in with Sanctuary dark atmosphere.
I do not like where the game design is going. puppies and kitties.
I agree, even more cause it’s just to keep lazy players from clicking a bit more to loot their stuff from the ground. Cause correct me if I’m missing something but their only functionality is to loot gold and materials from the ground (which you auto loot when walking over by yourself…)
Edit: Blizzard if you wanted to milk some more USD from us, you could have released a Paladin class or meaningful cosmetics…
You will be able to buy pets do not worry
I kinda get where they are coming from.
The theme of the expansion start from what we can tell at the minute is jungle related - rather than us trudging through the depths of hell we are following Neyrelle into some far flung jungle. The adult tiger is a mount so it stands to reason that you can’t have an adult tiger as a pet that is somehow a quarter of the size of your mount. Baby animals by design are “cute” and they do look relatively true to life tbh. Think of it more as a little dude that started following you as you entered the starting zone because Neyrelle accidentally skewered it’s mother and she’s now no doubt hanging from a tree somewhere like the dude in the swamp.
It may (does) look/feel at complete odds with the current expansion which is blood, guts and a land that’s been laid to waste by demons, but from the trailer the start of the expansion is definitely pushing the jungle theme, and there isn’t a whole lot else to go on (which I’m all for to be honest - I love see the Diablo stories unfold without knowing where they are going).
I’m sure things will get darker as time goes on. There’ll be new pets that emerge as the story develops (which will no doubt involve deepening corruption of some description) and there’ll be more that follow the season themes. Don’t forget, not all areas in D4 started off as dark wasteland areas, they turned that way during the story as they were ‘invaded’
Think about this season’s shiny mount/portal. If that had been included at release it would have been met with the same reaction, but as it was part of a seasonal theme it made more sense, although I’m sure there are many that hate those too.
They should be something other than dogs or normal pets, I agree. They feel way out of place in a dark setting based around hell and demons. lol
If this was candyland Diablo 3 I could see it working.
You can not use them. Simple as that.
I agree 100% that pets will break the immersion of the game in terms of the dark atmosphere they intend to create in D4.
I remember the lives or posts where they said that they weren’t going to bring the pets in this way because if they were going to do it, it would be in a way that wouldn’t break this atmosphere.
Well, they did just that and even implemented the wings.
I don’t like it, I won’t consume it and I would like to be able to clean my screen of these things (even though I play in HC and hardly see anyone in the cities), I already thought the emotes in the battle pass were a waste, now we will have pets and wings, which leads me to think that I’ll only buy it if it has some armor that’s really worth it (so far only the one from season 1 is cool, the one from this season seems like it’s another game).
Furthermore, I am against buying pets, I am in favor of adoption.
So if you are reading this and are thinking about buying a pet, there are many abandoned animals out there waiting for a home and ready to give love.
The demons are invading our world. No kids, or your animals exist?
They mentioned they weren’t bringing stuff like sparkle ponies. A puppy or kitten doesn’t break immersion
Fixed that for you.
Still does. A puppy or kitten doesn’t change that.
Not when you’re a born demon slayer with armor, weapons and spells. It’s a puppy, not even a pitbull.
You are not born that, or with that, so…
Aren’t we Nephalem? I only played the campaign once and don’t remember what we are.
Regardless of our birthright powers, we have to be trained to use them. You would be a born ready fighter with any magical abilities or powers.
This guys gonna flip when Kyovashad gets that Frozen Yogurt shop next season.
