Yeah I said it, you want uber trillion zillion dollar damage numbers to inflate your fake dopamine hits. People complained for YEARS about Diablo 3 damage and yet here you are crying when they are making balance adjustments.
Go reinstall D3 if you want monsterous damage hundreds of mobile games do.
nah i understand balance adjustments on the launch of a game⌠if you think all numbers are fine as is and nothing needs fixes. you my friend are the clueless one
After pushing leaderboards for 200ish hours in S3, the problem was that it became stale and the only thing you had to do was spam GRs.
Now, youâre not entirely wrong, because set bonuses were a huge problem (for me especially; I hated 'em since I loved experimenting.) The problem was set bonuses and huge damage multiplyers, not the damage itself. Sounds strange, but to put it differently: if spells innately did their set-bonus damage regardless of set bonus, youâd have been able to actually create unique builds.
Essentially:
10 damage can either be 10% or 1% of a monsterâs HP.
10 billion damage can either be 10% or 1% of a monsterâs HP.
The question is: how did we get to that number? D3âs method was garbage after you spent enough time on it. D4, however, has an indepth system and a clean slate. So, whatâs the issue then? My current opinion, is that people donât like it when casual PvE content is tuned this tightly.
Ultimately, Iâm not going to talk about balance too much more until I at least hit 50âŚmore concerned with necromancer pet issues and enemy hitboxes currentlyâŚ
They just made the build Iâve spent 3 days gearing up and tweaking completely obsolete, it is kind of irritating. I have no alternative gear for a different build, so now Iâm kinda stuck and have to drop down in difficulty and hope I get lucky with new gear.
I get that it was too strong, but these drastic balance changes should have been handled pre launch or in a seasonal patch.
this I can understand however I think the best time to balance stuff is right out the bat, not 6 months down the line. if they want a good balanced game they need to adjust on the fly not after people have tons of builds and then they all get changed drastically at once.
yes your one whirlwind barb 99% of barbs are doing atm got a nerf⌠um I donât people fully understand the amount of builds out there that are possible thou. thatâs the point of this game, to try new stuff. Iâm on my rogue atm and everytime I get a new leg power my brain is boggled at all the different things it can change up. So to say thereâs no other builds out there and everythign has been theory crafted already is absolute and utter hogwash.
thatâs the problem with people looking online on YT or maxroll for the âtop buildsâ chances are they are gonna change and people are gonna find new ones. There are so many combinations itâs crazy.
I think balancing stuff now is the best time. Not 6 months down the line. Hit it at itâs core, not once new mechanics from seasons and new items are put into the game.
I mean what are giant numbers about then? I could change dopamine hits to blizzard being lazy and just doesnât know how to balance so they allow numbers to get out of control without any care if you want. But here it seems like they are making adjustments before it gets broken like D3
Big numbers are combination of additive and multiplicative stacking across wide range of possible rolls with game that has massive longetivity while still trying to keep individual steps between upgrades powerful enough for players to notice. I urge you to try design similar system yourself, it will either shoot out into large numbers area, or power progression will be incredibly short, or power gains will be unnoticable and players will be getting mad during the leveling. Fun thing, they already are, thats how tight Blizz kept it. You have to see bigger picture.
Also there are so much better things for dopamine hits than PC games.
youâre stuck on this dopamine word. I was just being corny. Yes I understand additives and multiplicatives and Iâve said many times they need to watch out with multipliers. Less multipliers more additives so that things donât get crazy.
The thing about D4 is there is PvP. And itâs not just a side activity⌠well to some it is but some not. And no matter the amount of DR they give for human players they need to keep the numbers in tune. If something happens to be broken in the game people find, expect it to get the nerf bat.
the division 1 had this problem years back when that game was poppin. people would bring the huge damage broken builds into the pvp zone and just go ham, it put devs in a bind where it took them close to 3 years to start to get things into balance. At least here they are fixing stuff right at the start, not waiting like the division did
Devs made it clear no fun will be tolerated. I requested my refund and am hoping it is approved. I donât want to award poor performance from these devs, seem they forgot how to balance a game entirely. I am sure necro will be nerfed and buffed 5 more times before season 1 as, that is just how bad D4 devs are.
They lost my money, I seriously considered buying MTXs but now will not until they will realise thatâs not what people want and go D3 way again (like in D3 itself with Reaper of Souls)
uhh the masses havnât evne started playing yet so the changes donât even affect the majorty of players who are gonna start on the 6th⌠as far as pvp goes yes diablo is about killin monsters but since they put a pvp system in teh game it puts them kinda into a bind where they need to fix broken things that can be abused in pvp.
