Pc specs question

cani play this game on 8 gigs ram?

Not very well, but you can certainly try.

8GB is minimum requirement, so you can.
16GB is recommended though.

Just upgrade. DDR4 RAM has become rather cheap over the last year.

You can thank DDR5 ram coming out for that price drop. Although i did get some DDR5 32g ram for not much money (I did get the lower end stuff with my new pc build). The only problem with DDR5 ram is its only compatible with DDR5 ram motherboards.

It’s within the minimum requirements, but not the recommended requirements.

Bliz does have a policy where if you buy a game, own it for less than two weeks, and play it for less than two hours, you can get it refunded. So in theory, you could buy the game, try it out, and refund it if it doesn’t work to your satisfaction (but make sure you don’t play for 2 hours!)

But I’d raise a customer service case to get this confirmed before buying it on this pretext, because I could be wrong.

It’s a bit sad you’ve missed both March open beta weekend & server slam beta earlier in May, you could have tested our computer’s performances with the game & decide if you felt comfortable enough with 8 GB or if upgrading to 16 GB was required.

For sure, with 8 GB, you can’t afford having multiple browsers tabs opened at the same time as playing without having the risk of slow swapping process.

If you’re using Windows 11, the OS uses 4GB itself, so you’re probably only going to have 4GB of available RAM left to play with for anything else.

I played 3 betas with 8 GB with W10 it ran but I had some issues. I had to put all of the setting to low. When I increased to 32 GB for the server slam all of the issues were gone and the settings were now on medium.

with this game id be more confident with an older setup lol.

some ppl with crazy machines end up having issues and some ppl with out of date subpar machines are having the time of their life lol

Usually better to wait a little while before grabbing the next gen RAM. You’ll generally see better performance from sticks you get after it’s been out a good year or so. Eh, I guess it has been out a while… My mistake, been out of the loop a couple years.

I’m on a mid tier system myself. Old 9700k @5Ghz 32GB ddr4 @2600mhz a 3080 and an Intel 660p 1TB M.2ssd. Game runs as smooth as butter. I cap my framerate at 180fps for my 1440p 165hz monitor. And I was running at or above my refresh rate the entire time. Necros and their minions didn’t even slow me down in town.

I wanted to share a post I provided in Technical support with some advice on what to do to prepare for the Diablo IV launch:

Just trying to provide some knowledge. Share if you do find it helpful.

Thanks,

RAM is only just part of the whole requirement package if you want a smooth , quality gaming experience.

CPU/ GPU/ RAM/ OS / hard drive (SSD or HDD)

That is why it is important to not bottleneck yourself when you upgrading or building a new PC. You do more harm than good when you bottleneck your rig as not every components is up to par

If you have a reasonably up to date machine, like a Ryzen 2 5300 or higher (or equivalent intel), 8G DDR3/4, an SSD or NVMe and a GTX 10xx or higher (or equivalent). Then you can probably play it fairly smoothly on minimum quality at 1080p at 30fps.

But if you have something like the above and are trying to play in 4k, or with ultra settings, or want 60fps+ etc… then no, that’s not really going to happen.

Now if you’ve got a high-end machine, and just 8G RAM, which is highly unlikely - then what in the hell are you even doing? Just get more RAM.

I can’t even 4K with my rig LOL
Intel 11600K
NvME M.2 SSD
32 GB GDDR 4 3200MHZ RAM
Nvidia RTX 3070 TI

If I want 60-100 FPS ultra on all settings I can only get that in 1440P (not even every game), and depends on if I turn on RT or not with how DLSS is implemented.

In cyberpunk I can only get average of 40 FPS with my set up in mostly high-ultra setting .

I can get 4k@60 on my rig with all ultra settings.
The issue is that you’re running an intel :stuck_out_tongue:
Realized that I built mine over 5 years ago, so i’m looking to upgrade it now.

I’m aiming for 4k@120, so it’ll be R9 7900X + 64G DDR5 6000 (2x32G) + 4090 24G + 4x NVMe. Will need to get a new screen too though :frowning:

pretty sure GPU matters more than CPU when it comes to play on 1440P or 4K. CPU does matter of course, but not to the extend of GPU.

Intel is fine. AMD only caught up to Intel in recent years. If I want to game in 4K, I would be invested in at least 3080 or 4080 , then I also need a 4K monitor lol.

Intel have done a good job with marketing  AMD have actually been better for gaming for about 15 years now, it’s just that people have only started to realize it in the last 2-3.

But yes, a 4k monitor is a must. I only have a 2080 but some games run at 60fps perfectly fine and some drop as low at 15-20 (although they’re not optimized).

I haven’t seen anything below about 25 in D4 in ultra settings, and it doesn’t drop below about 45 with DLSS on.

If your PC specs are anything like my poor man’s PC budget specs - You’ll be FINE!
Don’t expect anything pretty…not at all. Oh no. I watch videos for the “pretty” haha.
I was playing with my On-Board AMD 8gb GFX chip. I have a new gfx card I haven’t installed yet.
I was…curious. It works.
Ran flawlessly on low settings with zero issues.

Game ran smooth as silk.(16gb ram though so… maybe upgrade that at least OP!).

I see you AMD lovers lol

The Intel VS AMD debate can go on for ages and you going to have Team Blue out VS Team Red it is never going to end.

But sorry no, Intel all the way here =)

Haha, that’s fine. I used to be completely against AMD 'till the mid-2000s, they were literally trash, and it’s why I still won’t touch their GPUs.

But their CPUs became better performance per $ by quite a margin a long long time ago, and they’ve had better lows for a long time. Intel (although improved) used to have horrible lows with intermittent lag spikes, something that AMD resolves in like 2005 or so when they started adding cache to their chips.

These days, it doesn’t really matter, it’s like 2 fps different either way depending on the game, and if you’re playing in 1440p at 400fps, who really cares. But until intel prices drop significantly, they’re not even worth considering imo.
