PC performance issues

it looks fine in general but stutters/loses frames during dashes, teleports, trampleslides, etc… pretty much any movement skill heh.

if i just walk around and fight it’s smooth. no idea what’s the deal.

I’ve not had this issue. OSD generally shows 11-13gb on VRAM of 24.
System RAM not even close. It’s just eating more GPU usage for seemingly no reason.

that’s the problem. It’s eating way too much and for some people it’s way worse than others.

Its been like this since launch and they have not been able to fix it.

I know what ya mean. I didn’t completely fix the stuttering issues when entering new zones or town until I upgraded to a 24GB card tho for this game having textures as high as they go

I think 16 might have been enough but 12 was a struggle

Maybe use some lower texture resolution. High texture resolution take a lot of vram.
Then if you have no more vram, your system is going to swap, using disk drive space instead of memory, and it’s going very slow. That’s the same for every games.
Also be sure to install it on an internal ssd, not an external, this will increase a lot of performance, as there’s probably some landscape streaming (to confirm).

I’m generally sitting around 13GB / 24GB and 15GB system RAM when I start the game. This spikes to 16 VRAM and 17 system RAM when I enter a new zone such as dry steppes to kehjistan. After entering all the zones, I am at 21 GB VRAM and 17GB system RAM.

Here’s a bit more info on what’s happening here. Note this is NOT a memory leak and you won’t be using as much VRAM as me but I’m assuming it’s a similar % free, and since I have a 24GB card my % free means I have a lot more VRAM when offloading and bringing new assets happens than a 12GB card, so there is no stuttering.

Gamers often cite the “VRAM usage” metric in On Screen Display performance measurement tools. But this number isn’t entirely accurate, as all games and game engines work differently.

In the majority of cases, a game will allocate VRAM for itself, saying to your system, ‘I want it in case I need it’. But just because it’s holding the VRAM, doesn’t mean it actually needs all of it. In fact, games will often request more memory if it’s available.

Due to the way memory works, it’s impossible to know precisely what’s being actively used unless you’re the game’s developer with access to development tools. Some games offer a guide in the options menu, but even that isn’t always accurate.

The amount of VRAM that is actually needed will vary in real time depending on the scene and what the player is seeing.

Furthermore, the behavior of games can vary when VRAM is genuinely used to its max. In some, memory is purged causing a noticeable performance hitch while the current scene is reloaded into memory. In others, only select data will be loaded and unloaded, with no visible impact. And in some cases, new assets may load in slower as they’re now being brought in from system RAM.

Here is the source of this information:

Ryzen 5 3600 / RTX 2060 6GB / 3000Mhz syst memory / standard SSD on Win10 / 1080p

My game never drops below 60 fps (even during legion events).

  • low to med graphic settings with DLSS on Quality
  • XMP Profile OFF

OP, try just 60Hz…

actually in other post i said that it started to happen when legion events and helltides were in the same hour, but now i cannot even play a nightmare dung, also i spawn on the city and not inside the dungeon. WTF??

Is a mix of lag connections i think and ram usage from graphics card. Don´t think they are gonna solve it, since it have been happening from a month ago each patch.

Sounds about right.

I am back to my main game ‘Darktide’ for now.

Will check back when D4 have more content.
