PC Gamer Interview - Season 4 Teasers

Sir you never disappoint with the updates, thank you.

  • The chance to fail Masterworking has been removed, at the cost of a “mildly increased amount of material requirements” for Masterworking costs

They listened to our feedback, this is awesome. I personally suggested a moderate increase to materials required instead of having a fail chance, but hey I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Also what? 1 Free resplendant spark? (kinda) That’s crazy talk.

If they answer any of your questions tomorrow, you truly are the GOAT.

I think they did last time!

Yeah they picked Iggi’s question last time.

I couldn’t think of anything except some basic questions for the future of the game. I assume they’ll go over the changes they made based on our feedback, and that’s my biggest question right now, but just felt pointless to ask it in that thread.

While it would be hilarious if they picked one of my questions, I don’t expect any of them to be picked, but I threw them out there anyway. Not to mention I had 2 questions answered during that last campfire, if they pick another one from me, people will feel like I’m getting special treatment.

Yeah this is good.
I have plenty of issues with the itemization redesign.
But having an outright fail chance per upgrade is just stupid. Lost Ark kinda stupid. And it couldnt even be explained with P2W greed in this case.

I think Iggi could be Adam trolling us.

 Just answering my own questions. Oh man it’d be the horrible twitter questions all over again.

Not sure about anyone else but I am looking forward to the show tomorrow. The Karan’s will be raging.

As any lawyer or public service spokesperson will attest, never ask or be asked a question you don’t already have a prepared answer for.

  • There have been no changes to Uniques - yet. Blizzard says it’s “toying around” with the ability to Temper Unique items, or some other variant of crafting, in the future

Ugh. Whatever they decide on, don’t make it something that literally makes Uniques no longer Uniques (as in a static pre-designed item).

One thing that could potentially be interesting imo, might be each Unique item having 2 inactive affixes. Where you could do “something” to unlock one, and only one, of them.
The item remains fully predesigned, but also offers some choice for players.

Related to that, one Unique item system I really liked, was the one in Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2, where each Unique came with its own little “quest” series. Where you had to do various stuff while using the item, to unlock its affixes. Like “Slay a specific dragon” or “Kill 50 Enraged Ghosts”, “Use the Fear On Hit proc to fear 100 enemies” or whatever.
Giving both a bunch of personality to each item, as well as offer some sense of progression to the item along the way, as you use it. While being way more engaging than “Spend 1000 iron ore to upgrade”.

Good idea. Awakened uniques. I like it.

Final fantasy does something similar where you use a weapon for a certain amount of time, and then it permanently unlocks that items ability for your character.

It might be neat if you jumped through all the hoops on the unique … that instead of unlocking a passive, you got access to a new active ability.

I like this idea, would be really cool to see it in the game. Basically the same thing as tempering, but in a static form and you actually get to choose which of the two you want. Honestly this could use its own thread just to throw it out there.

I like this idea a LOT. I want more systems that make the world deeper - bring lore more into the game.

I like this idea. What I would also like to see, is a visual effect on masterworked items. Like a glow or aura with increasing intensity, based on how many ranks of masterwork we have on them.

“Blizzard wants every class to have something as broken as a barbarian bonking a boss for a billion damage.”

Oof… no thank you.

So if you build four characters and only play through the initial seasonal quest will you get 4 resplendent sparks to use on your final build?
