We’re less than two weeks from the new season and Blizzard, in their usual better late than early fashion, still hasn’t told us what to expect for the upcoming season. So in lieu of the official release here are my mildly humorous guesses
General Game Play
XP gains will be reduced 10 percent for each boss power equipped. This applies to groups as well. A four player group with 8 powers equipped will level 80% slower. This should give players the maximum time leveling that so many of them seem to want.
Barbarian
All non-channeled skills will now be Shout skills but each stacked shout will reduce the effective duration by 5%10% 15%
Druid
The ability to stack Boulder casts on Dolmen stone will be raised to 20. However the casting cost of Boulder will now include a cool down so no more than 5 will likely to be cast at any one time.
Necromancer
All powers on Ring of Mendeln now work but summoned creatures sometimes wander off and even enter other zones requiring player to resummon them.
Rogue
Frost imbuments will be treated as poison imbuments and Poison imbuments as Shadow imbuents to match the Rogue description in the forums with says the Rogue can “augment their attacks with deadly poisons and shadow magic” there’s no mention of frost and we’re not about to change the forum to correct the mismatch.
Sorcerer
After looking at the various builds we’ve decided players only use Teleport and Ice Shards so we’re removing one of the enchantment slots and only making Teleport and Frost Bolts available as the enchantment and the other spell should be automatically added as an enchantment.
Spiritborn
We’re glad to announce that Centipede based poison builds will be more viable this season. However you’ll still need to use the Rod of Kepeleke as it’s the only Spiritborn weapon we know how to code for currently.
Seasonal Powers
Besides the aforementioned XP challenges the seasonal powers now either instantly kill Belial in Torment 4 or do 1d8 damage. We’re not sure why and at this point don’t have the time to address the issue. Hopefully it will be patched in the firstsecond third hot fix. No later than the midseason patch, we swear.
We know what to expect. We still have the PTR patch notes up. They’ll just be slightly revised. We’ll probably get another campfire next week going over any changes they made based on PTR feedback.
I have been wondering this myself. We usually have something somewhere around this point from the end of the season.
From what I am seeing S8 has much more negativity surrounding it than previous seasons for a number of reasons. I bet Diollarblo 4 leadership is damage control overdrive right now.
Right now Mediocrity Rod is crying in the corner kicking and screaming “But I don’t wanna release the patch notes!!” and “The forums are mean!!! They didn’t like my roadmap!!!”
Since they are scaling up the pits, there needs to be more than one way to level up glyphs. Just like getting mats. Add it back in NMDs also. Then you can at least level up your glyphs with 2 ways to do it.
You can use the Cog icon on the right most set of symbols above the text box to make clean links. Use the “</> Preformatted Text” https ://news.blizzard.com/en-us/article/24179278/the-2-2-0-ptr-what-you-need-to-know
One can hope, however vainly, that they at least saw how POE2’s recent patch crapped the bed and realize that many of the same things they’ve proposed for S8 (namely longer leveling, nerfed drops, buffed bosses, etc.) went over very badly with the POE2 faithful (you know, the ones who supposedly love a slog) and course correct as a result.
They also should have one eye on how LE’s latest major patch (available today) to see how much it may take away from the player base.
PoE 2 has the same issue as D4, you have 2 to 3 main vocal minorities vying for dominance of how the game should be. I like PoE 2, but it’s definitely not a game I see myself going back to every time they have a new season, similar to how I played PoE 1. It just becomes a long slog (for me) after a while.
D4 arguably is on the faster track, which I don’t necessarily want either. I’d rather not have D3’s levels of fast, but I don’t want PoE2’s levels of slow and punishment either, a nice middle ground would work for me.
