Patch Notes are Up 1.4.3

The changes in this patch are aimed at buffing classes and builds that are not performing as well as their counterparts.

Looks through patch notes

Flay

Bleeding damage over time increased by 8%.
Enhanced Flay
Vulnerable duration increased from 3 to 5 seconds.
Battle Flay
Bleed damage bonus increased from 10%[x] to 15%[x].
Combat Flay
Maximum stack amount increased from 4 to 5.
Damage Reduction increased from 3% to 4%.
Buff duration increased from 3 to 6 seconds.

Shatter

Bonus damage increased from 25%[x] to 30%[x].

Oh, so they buff the two best builds already clearing pit 150+. Also if they’re making the pit easier so other builds can clear higher, those two builds might just finish pit 200. We’re speed running D3 standards now, it took years of power creep before builds were strong enough to clear GR 150, while we get there in half a season and we haven’t even had the expansion yet.

Pulverize

Damage increased by 76%.

Well here is one druids could really use. Now they’ll go from doing 17 damage to 30 damage!

Flay is hugely nerfed because of the holy bolt elixir fix. they’re probably trying to compensate for it, but I think it’ll be weaker in the end.

This patch indicates that it is a modification made by designers who do not play games to achieve KPIs.

The lack of tempering changes I’m sure. Which we may see come S5, but definitely weren’t going to see in a mid-season patch.

Sorry but I read the patch notes differently. I see PULV as a totally viable build again. Doing the math I see pulv hitting like a beast!

I get that they’re trying to buff underperforming builds for all the classes, but these notes just seem humbled together. I have nothing against whirlwind dust devil buffs and god known, Blood Necro needs a lot of help (want to play it, but after barely tickling a Hellborne, I went back to Minion).

These changed aren’t going to move the needle really. Especially on classes like Sorc or Druid outside of maybe pulverize and possible using Avalanche on Sorc for better better management, though I still see people using Vyr’s for DR or Esu’s do to it proccing off any damage still instead of just fire.

Honestly, balance needs a full overhaul, which will probably come with the expac, but nothing in the expac has me excited.

Yeah, seemed unlikely given the timeline. I’d love to see them take a whack at it in a few weeks though before the season completely dies off in anticipation of S5.

Quoted for posterity.

They could also introduce more RNG systems like tempering. I think its great at what it does.

Yes whales will still RMT but they can make it so unappealing to the majority wanabe whales they just dont see value in RMT

Frozen Orb, Chain Lightning, Fireball, Blizzard, nothing?

Theese builds needs like 10x the damage output to feel ok compared to the good builds out there. Buffing Flay when bleed barbs are doing billion damage ticks while Chain Lightning hits for 3 million at the high end? LOL, you cant make this up.

If you were to whack on a single target boss it would take multiple hours for a Chain Lightning sorc to do the same amount of damage as a barb does in 5 mins.

i main pets and pulv as spirit user, it pisses excellence, this will make it obscene, especially with the 12 overpower lowering too

They don’t understand math. When the gaps between the top builds and the bottom ones are in the range of several dozen pits, random 5-10% here and there won’t matter if the difference in the base number isn’t taken into account. They don’t seem to grasp the concept and just throw some random numbers around, that’s the only explanation for the horrible class balance this game has always had. This also indicates the total lack of insight and foresight of the core of the game, where they have classes that can equip multiple weapons like Barbarian and decided that tempering is a good next step. Some thing so obviously unbalanced yet Blizzard is totally obvious of.

Lilith, just you wait until my constricting tendrils catch you…

It’s funny to see people complain about class balance when all classes can do pit 100 to get the achievement. Pits have no leaderboards folks, it’s pointless wasting your time gearing until meaningful leaderboards are in place.

You all know you won’t be using your eternal chars…

Yea, they’ll prob talk about Tempering in the next week Campfire chat stream

When the best you can hit for is 10m and the barbs are hitting for 1000 times harder; that 76% damage boost simply aint cutting it chief.

You’re overlooking some stuff… Shockwave aspect does % damage of Pulverize, so if you place Skockwave on a 2h, you get a 228% inc if you’re close enough to hit with both pulverize and shockwave.
Not saying it will bring pulverize druid on equal footing to barbs, but it’s a good start.

Eh, what are you talking about!?
