For the last 25 minutes the patch has been downloading at under 100 KB/s and a few times dipping into B/s. The patch also says 19% done at 2.53 / 23.90 GB and that’s definitely not the math. What is going on?
The speed jumps from 10kb/s to 40mb/s… It feels like their servers cannot handle the pressure, so they split players into batches and provide good speed, one or two batches at a time.
Oh interesting, that’s not a bad way to handle it actually. Thanks for the info!
Download finished and installed, and now I’m back at the dreaded issue where all of my games require an update, and none of them will launch. Uninstalling BNet, clearing the cache files, and re-installing…still same issue.
Wonderful.
Meanwhile I’m sitting at 110 MB/sec, nearly maxing out my ethernet connection. I suspect I got super lucky though. And there’s no guarantee it won’t drop down to ultra low speeds partway through. Since I’m downloading the full 126 GB fresh so I have the cleanest install possible, this will take a while.
I’m on that rural area internet, I peak at like 5.5 MB/s. I miss the good stuff. haha.
I uninstalled the base game and am going to see if it works from the ground up… sigh.
Good luck to all of you reinstalling. I am hoping my install will be ok.
Pause, then restart the download, it kickstarted speeds for me and I finished within a few minutes
Yeah, that’s what I just did.
126 GB guys. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX.
Did it finish for you already?
It’s going to be a roller coaster for users. See my post above where I was sitting pretty at 110 MB/sec? I just dropped to 400k/sec, bounced up to 10 MB/sec, and back down to 100k/sec. The CDN is dynamically adjusting our download speeds to allow us all to do so at once. Just make some snacks to prepare for your VoH campaign night so you’re ready to keep yourself awake and primed to get yourself fully into the season start.
Check the Settings and uncheck the throttling in Download Limits if enabled.
Wow, I’m already at 85 GB of the 126 GB download. Just did 10 of those GBs in under two minutes. If this keeps up I’ll be done in no time and will be off the pipe so others can get their speeds up. 5 GB/min… shame my Steam speeds never get that high. Their CDN(s) are truly suckage.
The throttling is usually only defaulted onto pre-release content, which this isn’t anymore.
Download limits are universally applied, hence the tip given. Pre-release data isn’t throttled any differently than live patch data. The only difference is in priority and when it can download (this is game specific according to your settings for each game).
I’m stuck downloading 96.49 GB, which is like re-downloading the entire game again, and I’m getting speeds I haven’t seen since 1996.
Just wait it out. As I noted above, it’ll be a roller coaster for a lot of users. I was down in those speeds for a few minutes myself. Welcome to launch day funsies. Go make some snacks to eat while you play VoH once your download is finished.
I kinda disagree on some of that.
By default, the app sets a 1000 KB/s limit on pre-release data, but zero limit on live patches. If your only game that needs updating is D4, there should be zero throttling.
At the current moment, I’m bouncing back and forth between 50 KB/s and 50 MB/s.
Aaaaaand my download is done. Less than half an hour for the full 126 GB. Now I can close the Battle.net app and let others have the bandwidth. As the mayor of Scuttle Town would say, time to go make some dirty water.
