Patch 1.20a won't install, stuck at "initializing"

Not sure what’s going on, but battle.net is just stuck on “initializing…” for this tiny patch. It even eventually times out and then I click Update again, and the same thing happens. Not sure what’s going on but it makes the game unplayable as I’m stuck in this endless loop of the game trying to patch but not actually patching.

Update: I let the intiailzing keep going for a while and eventually got this note on my screen

Steps I’ve taken so far:
I’ve restarted battle.net
I’ve shutdown and restarted my computer
I guess the next step is to Scan and Repair?

Have you tried waiting it out?

This patch is 2GB. It may take a bit.

Not 1.2, 1.20a which just enables cross play. I can’t imagine thats a 2gb patch. I’ve already been playing s2 since it launched.

Yeah, mine downloaded it fine. First it did the big patch then was done. But I exited the launcher first, started it back up, then it downloaded this smaller patch you are talking about.

Then I restarted the launcher again and its fine.

So.

This can happen sometimes when updating the game. Scan/Repair might help.

The other solution is to fully remove battlenet app and reinstall it.

There are steps for this too, let me dig it up.

Thanks, I’m trying the scan/repair tool now will be curious to see if that fixes it. If not I’ll try to delete and reinstall bnet

Yea something is definitely wrong. I’ve had the scan/repair tool running for 6+ minutes now and it’s still at 0% scanning game files. I’ll try uninstalling bnet and see if that helps

Let it run its course.

Do you see any drive activity?

If nothing happens after 10 minutes, then restart Windows (using RESTART) and try one more time. If you get the same behavior, restart again and follow the uninstall/reinstall steps above.

Now battle.net won’t install. I’ve never had problem with battle.net since they launched it, but this is just bizarre.

Is it trying to install but not progressing?

my version says its 1.2.0.46384 is this updated? i cant get the game to work for over an hour now. tried restarting and repairing

Same as mine at the moment.

Try this for giggles:

Hit the windows flag and R.

Type in CMD.

The command prompt should open.

Put in the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

See if that helps with updating or installing updates and getting in. This will clear out any bad DNS entries for places.
