Party interface needs a lot of work

Being in a party was a pretty simple thing in D1/2/3. However, D4 shares some of the shared-world aspects of Immortal, but doesn’t have the same features. While DI has a lot of flaws, the party interface is a strength. Some things I noticed when I partied up last night in D4:

  • It’s messy to see where a party member is:
    • Their dot doesn’t stick out that well
    • Their pins are useful but also not obvious
    • When they are not on the same map as you (say they are in a dungeon), their dot showing up near the entrance is confusing (are they inside? are they just not displaying properly?)
  • Checking out their gear is not intuitive (have to go find their profile)
  • In general, the right-click menu (on their icon on the left hand side) had a bunch of stuff I didn’t want to do, and not the things I did want to do
  • In DI, auto-navigation is pretty bad over short distances (really inefficient routes), but it’s a great aid in cutting down on tedious map interactions. Even if D4 isn’t intended to have auto-navigation (it’s not a mobile game after all), I missed having the ability to go to the waypoint nearest a party member

i agree …
and not just the party but overall the UI … when you open social and check people in the zone, or the window next to friends … you see TOTALLY just random players not even in the same zone, its stupid … broken …

when you play with friends and you portal to town and come back, you might end up in different zone ID away from your friends … which is also stupid …

game is definitely NOT in golden state as they advertised … still has tons of game breaking bugs and annoying stuff …

The whole UI needs a lot of work. It’s easy the worst UI of any AAA game.

My friend and I plan to play most of the storyline together when the game comes out.

During the server slam, we were running into some of the game’s interactive elements that could only be activated by one of us, and the other would miss out, e.g., a viewpoint where you get a better look at a castle.

Another small note we had was about moving through dialogue. The current configuration when talking with an NPC is that dialogue skips happen for both players regardless of who activates the skip. So ideally, once in dialogue, each player would get to move through it at their own pace, skipping only once they had finished reading.

The game is really great, and we’re looking forward to getting to play through it together. These would be a couple of really nice small improvements that would make our social playthrough a little more enjoyable.

thats overstatement … i wouldnt call this AAA game …

A LOT OF WORK needs to be done … definitely not a “golden” state of the game … so many bugs and glitches still within the game …
Blizzard is such a liar all the time … calling this “best state” etc …
It kinda pains me to listen to their lies all the time …

i checked bugs from past year and most of them were fixed, like no invisible walls … servers were okay for 95% of the time …

but some stuff, like when you pick up a book, subtitles are off yet you still see them … bad frame, thru whole screen, cant see a thing …
the light glitch still bothers me … utterly hate it

I mean sure it may need a few changes but I don’t think it’s that bad lol. I found the UI pretty simple to navigate… but I do agree party interface could highlight things a bit better.

Not to mention there is no find party tool or channel. Seems a huge oversight.
