Paragon building - I could use some help understanding this

So I’m aware there is a paragon building online template, but I’m still trying to understand exactly how to build a proper one. I’ve watched some tutorials and I’m still feeling like I’m not benefiting at all considering if someone were in person explaining/helping me I’d definitely be better off.

Can anyone help me out? I’m running a WW barb at this current time with a 2 handed sword, although I just got a nice axe however the bonus is not always worth it.

Where do I start with my paragon? Is there a safe build that will ultimately not hurt me if I continue on from my first board to the next? Also, what is the right time to start building it since I may not have the unique needed?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I would suggest starting as soon as you get the chance to use the board.

Also best to have exploit on your glyph slot and getting the dex requirement to unlock the bonus it gives

For WW I would start with wrath as the first glyph since you can activate it’s secondary effect quit fast without leveling it in the first board it offers critical damage and fury on crit. With dire whirlwind aspect this is quite good for a start.

Exploit would be my second glyph choice as stated above. Once lvl 15 and the requirements met it will offer 3sec of vulnerable on first hit.

Just these two glyphs can activate some real damage early on. Then you just tweak the rest of the paragon tree/glyphs to suit your build.

As for the boards imo you can find pretty decent guides online honestly once you play around with the boards you’ll see that it’s not that hard to find your own way. Sure someone will probably min max this to death at some point but it’s hard to really mess up your paragons.

Personally I went with weapon master as second board and rotated it so that the hunter killer node would be close to the bottom entrance. Then I went right to get the glyph and towards my 3rd board Warbringer. From here I just pathed towards what I liked most. I use my setup for both WW and Hota just replacing some glyphs and a few points to swap from one to the other.

The general rule is to avoid useless detours. Unless it’s something you really need for your build it’s better to choose a path that will give the most glyphs and the most bonuses without straying too far into any board. The only one I took a few detours in is weapon master for Hunter Killer and Warbringer for the legendary and the bonuses to max fury (but that’s mainly for my Hota build).

Thank you for a easy to read response.

Actually, both of you.

I will just reset mine and start fresh. I’ve been working exploit atm anyway so that’s good.

Much appreciated.
