The Electrocute Glyph gives +X% bonus to nodes that boost Lightning Damage or Lightning Resist.
Of the two lightning focused boards, the only nodes within range that apply are for Lightning Resists. There are no +shock/+lightning damage nodes anywhere near a glyph socket.

I had been leveling the Electrocute Glyph expecting to use it at some point - And last night figured out exactly what you’ve just said.
I can only assume that there were originally sockets that had lightning dmg near them, but were nerfed. Based on what I can “know” I’d guess the crackling dmg was originally lightning dmg and they changed it, and over looked the Electrocute Glyph - Or a new future board is coming that’ll have something for it. Either way its a disappointing oversight.
The same applies to the Winter glyph for cold damage. I have to assume they will be patched. When, is the question.

Yeah, those glyphs are worthless until a future patch unfortunately.

It says nothing good about whoever is in charge that they nerf something out of existence leaving a trap for anyone who does not realize the second part of the two-part combo they need to be effective does not exist.
I just realized this too…one correction to OP’s post: It reads Lightning Damage and Damage Reduction, not Lightning Resistance. There are no nodes on any board that has lightning damage or damage reduction within max glyph range. I have been leveling Electrocute glyph thinking it looks really good, but apparently I have no actual use for it other than the 5% crit from the additional bonus, which is nice, but not enough on its own to take the glyph over a better option.
I was looking at the Pyromancy Glyph the other day and both of the Fire boards have rare nodes within range that can be boosted by it, so I guess we finally found one (1) thing that Fire has an edge in, lul! But joke aside those glyphs aren’t particularly useful anyway.
There are much better ones. And glyphs in general aren’t nearly as impactful as most guides make them out to be. Unless you spend countless hours running nightmare dungeons to fully upgrade them the bonuses they give basically amount to little more than an extra item roll.
The whole paragon and glyph system is a perfect example of copying something you don’t understand from your friend’s homework and trying to put your own spin on it so that the teacher doesn’t catch on. In this case they did exactly that with Path of Exile’s system but mucked it up big time.
the whole thing has to be redone for the sorc. my paragon boards are all right angles, straight in and out of a board, often only going for two magic nodes before moving onto the next one. pretty sad i have to traverse to a farther exit on my fourth board because otherwise i’d be running into the first board.
Can we get this bumped? come on this is wild.
Sorc will get no love, trust me I’ll quit the game if Sorc will not get a hard rework with Season 1. LVL 100 Sorc here.
