Out of all materials, I’m out of IRON for masterworking, really Blizzard?
I’m a low paragon 50 but come on this kind of material is not what I’m supposed to be out of at this stage. Another miscalculation by Blizzard or have I missed something?

Yeah…you missed something. Hit the ore pile, Sir Bronn. They are all over the place!
They give a pretty laughable quantity. I’m missing thousands not 25…
Ah, I see you have reached the point where the game becomes “ride around iron node click simulator”. I reached that point too days ago.
Ya’ll need to start incorporating whispers into your gameplay. Iron chunks never been a problem for me.
There’s a patch coming in two days time which will be addressing the lower than intended drop rate for iron chunks and raw hide.
Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one experiencing the basic mat scarcity.
To be fair I always try to consider them whilst doing stuff, from obvious helltides and pvp zones to even some filter NDs or quick dungeons. The main thing I tend to miss are World Bosses 5 whispers reward because I don’t play that often to always find them when I’m online.
Despite that, it’s the proportion that shocked me. Mats quantities are like:
X=1,209
Y=13,789
Z= 9,780
Iron= 17
Don’t forget “Obducite= 0”, that last tier of masterwoking is ungodly expensive.
IH Big Chest.
If you are not up to that
TOW, and the bigger wooden chests in NMD, (they look like ones that have guardians attached to them) and rocks.
Fair enough, but this is kind of expected. A decent part of the grinding should be getting the key ingredient for masterworking. Iron is supposedly found everywhere since lvl 1
PS: That’s my Obducite argument but bear in mind that a 5* masterworked gear is my highest, I have no clue how “creative” Blizzard got with the last tier
Yeah, but right now I feel like I am constantly reliving the "aaaaand it’s gone " south park meme every time I go to masterwork after a few hours of horde-ing myself around.
I found bossing to be the best and most efficient way to farm iron chunks and raw hide.
Heh, at least you’re getting items to drop that are worth masterworking. I’m stuck in T1 of HC because I haven’t found either ancestral aspects or items to masterwork. Over 12 hours of farming NMD, pits, Helltides, and Hoards… one semi decent unique and one lame but at least ancestral ring. At this rate I’ll be lucky to be geared for T2 about the time the season ends. Of course I’ve gotten something like 6 Ancestral Fist of Fates and maybe 8 Penitent Greaves. But actually usable ancestrals? The game is designed to make you play OP Spiritborn or suffer.
All those free bags from the blacksmith were not actually free, he sucked up 90% of the iron ore on the server with those junk bags
Blizzard stealth nerfed the amount of materials players get from blacksmith scrapping for slowing the basic progression.
They have done a stealth nerf to gold chest of infernal horde too.
Even with the next patch they confirmed to not want to fix this.
Blizzard is really confused considered they want masterworking to be used to access to Torment 1
If you can never run out then it doesn’t have a point existing as a “resource.” That said, resource use is pretty low and I only got low myself when leveling multiple alts and constantly tempering their gear as they leveled. I ran out of hides which surprised me, I stopped spam tempering armor every few levels (which was pointless anyway) and jumped back up to thousands of it without going out of my way to find more.
If you are mining ore nodes I feel like you are probably doing something wrong, do a couple dungeons for a whisper cache instead.
The fact is a basic resources doesn’t need to be specifically farmed if you are in the endgame, this is how an arpg work, because the main point is farming gear.
Instead in the mmorpg you continuosly farming resources.
Now Blizzard in season 6 stealth nerfed the quantity of materials you get from blacksmith scrapping, this is causing the problem.
Because before season 6 diablo 4 worked like an arpg, you farm gear and if you dont need it you scrap it to blacksmith and get resources.
Now with the season 6 and the blacksmith scrapping stealth nerf, diablo 4 work like a mmorpg, you farm specifically the resources to make the gear better.
Its realy big problem! I have 14k crystals 3k marevit and only 300 Iron! Just cannot upgrade any weapon or make socket…
Blizzard with the stealth nerf to blacksmith scrapping is trying to slowing the players progression and shifting from an arpg where you farm gears principally, to a mmorpg where you farm mats principally.
I stated above I already do that. That’s why I think this is so odd, because I have a pretty decent amount of every material EXCEPT iron. It’s a common resource found in many places since lvl 1, so there clearly was some miscalculation by Blizzard which didn’t happen in past seasons. Especially because the cost of other common mats are similar to iron’s costs too, so it definetly looks like it was (yet another) uninted surprise for Blizzard too
