Original campaign thoughts

Ok, so I have to say playing through the campaign is a joke, and completely bugged… The new gear just ruins fights for the game, making it boring. Meaning the original campaign, fixing this is important, especially for those that never played the game before. I’d say, the campaign used to run like how torment 2 when you first get into torment 2 (speaking at having a sorcerer at paragon lvl 175 or so), creatures actually have life, I remember when the game came out, on expert difficulty, it took me roughly 2 hours to get through the Lilith fight by myself, now, as a level 46 Barbarian it took me 2 or 3 minutes with current gear, including yellows in that gear. Even fighting Lilith in Torment 1 wasn’t hard, but hard because after dropping her hp, I had to just dodge everything being thrown at me for 3 or 4 minutes, if I got hit by that, I lost. That’s the problem I have, they fixed end game things, but created a massive problem for the campaign, which is the main reason I like the game, end game stuff is fun too, but if they are going to do that, maybe rethink how a player can go up from expert into the higher torments. It’s fun to just delete things, but kind of ridiculous. Perhaps its not that, and when it comes to forging orange gear, it has to run on a scale, based on the character’s level. For example, I may not do a bunch of damage with my barbarian, but I have a stack of lucky hit, 40% chance to do 4k damage, like 3 times on weapon items, so I just delete things when I hit. Which is ok, but not ok for campaign purposes, feel like that is something that could be changed, so that I’m not doing end game damage at lower levels, not saying to take it away, because it would be hard to do that, especially as each expansion comes out, but perhaps based on what type and what level, it has an appropriate min to max amount (I think this is a decent idea after thinking about what I just said, because players are going to grind out gear at the max level again, because that gives you the best results, then its getting ancestral, so on and so forth). It just ruins the immersion, and something like that can ruin the game, quickly, when it comes to expansions, it kind of felt like this once I got current gear as compared to legacy gear, until I hit paragon, then I blew through the main quests too quickly, perhaps during campaign you can gain xp for paragon, but you do not receive benefits from paragon until the main story line is finished. Saying stuff like this, makes me realize that, maybe someday 15 years from now, I become a good game director.

This made more sense than the D4 dev teams strategy. Well done chatgpt.

Idk, if you are referring to me or the Dev’s, but the dev’s have fixed alot of issues from when the game first came out, because everyone was pretty much at the end game, doing that stuff, end game is in a decent spot. At this point, it’s just rounding things off in my opinion, taking some time and polishing, especially for the next expansion, that being, kill Mephisto. Hopefully a bit longer than vessel of hatred.
It’s okay to complain, but complaining just to complain, just causes stress, and make the artists and dev’s workin on the game, loose love and dedication. As someone wanting to work in the game industry, something like that would make me not really want to continue work on the game, except that I’m getting paid to work on it. I’m still in school and will be for another 3 years.
They have added in alot of great ideas that are cool, and the way that things are built in the game, skills and items, work and synergize well together, despite my opinion that I really liked d2’s skill tree. Though to be honest d2’s skill tree, kinda sucked because if you messed up, you were screwed, and forces you to use builds. Which I always hated having to use a build. Think theirs does better at making it so you can build whatever and make it work. Hopefully in the next expansion they expand all character’s skill trees, give new abilities to characters.
I would love to see, expansions are built for expanding all character’s and more expansive campaign, maybe a new idea or 2 for end game stuff outside of gear. Then to have character’s be released when ready, and if a player wants them, they can pay for a new character at like 10 to 20 bucks. Speaking of new character’s, a Paladin or Crusader class would be badass.

MY EYES!!……their bleeding plz make it stop

AHHHH!!!

Have you ever considered paragraphs?

I’ve been a long-time fan of the Diablo series, but after spending some serious time with Diablo 4, I have to say, I’m seriously underwhelmed. Here’s why I think Diablo 4 misses the mark:

  1. Lack of Innovation: It feels like they just slapped a new coat of paint on old concepts. There’s nothing groundbreaking or particularly exciting about the gameplay.

  2. Repetitive Quests: The quest design feels like a never-ending cycle of fetch tasks and kill-this-many-of-that-thing objectives. Where’s the creativity?

  3. Underwhelming Storyline: Diablo 4’s narrative lacks the depth and intrigue that kept us hooked in previous games. It’s predictable and fails to engage on an emotional level.

  4. Monetization Model: The push for microtransactions is just too aggressive. It feels like a cash grab rather than a player-focused experience.

I really wanted to love Diablo 4, but it seems like a missed opportunity in many ways.

I like to ramble, and yes, but I don’t consider this an essay. I will say, in my second rant, I tried to keep ideas separated.

I agree with the lack of innovation, but look at its development process, this was pushed out within a year of the game dropping. I think the idea behind this was to show off that the game was fixed, but fixed for end-game stuff. Honestly, endgame things I’m not too worried about, it does get repetitive quickly, but that was just about the same with d2.

It’s just, If i compare this game to Starcraft and Warcraft, people need to take in account for developmental time. There is a reason why Starcraft and Warcraft were great games when they came out. That’s because they had time to work on the game, and come out with something good enough while they made small fixes.

The problem isn’t with the developers fully, ideas and designs aren’t worked out, there isn’t enough time to create a campaign in 1 year. They needed to go through and fix issues with the game, because Activision ceo’s and cfo’s looking for extra money before the next quarter, to boost numbers was the problem. As before blizzard had decent guys that could make a great game, and keep the cfo’s from saying you’ve spent enough now release the game no matter what. The problem was, you get a game like diablo 4 that isn’t complete, and you have cfo’s pushing for content release, when the game still needs to get fixed.
Pretty much you have a bunch of rich dudes at the top that spent a ton of money, and worried about collapsing because of the lawsuits from mismanagement, and the guy who was holding the company together left, because why would you stay when the company is imploding because some guys are arrogant and treat women like they are meat, and then the rich guys that don’t work on games are forcing things to get done, when they aren’t done. Blizzard is a prodigy of perfection, and because you don’t have the people who could say wait you release now, the game is gonna flop and you’ll loose your money, or money in the future for money now.
Going back to, the company needed to work on fixing the game, but couldn’t fully fix the game because the cfo’s wanted more money, so they are releasing a campaign that like you said, is repetitive and underwhelming. I honestly don’t think that the microtransactions are pushed that bad, you can buy the cool looking gear skin, or not. Having it so you can buy a new character is a mediocre cash grab, but I would rather do that, and have a good campaign, that has four areas to explore, and that all character’s get more skills to play with. Essentially, yes you have to pay for a new character, but by doing that, you are allowing the company to finance future character development. When an expansion comes out, and you are paying for a full on campaign. I think that Rainbow Six siege, is far worse, but the game was good when it came out, because Ubisoft listened to their developers. Even for the seasons they had to cut back on maps, with reworks, they had to cut back on how many characters they created too, but then took the time to fix issues and listen to the community.
