Ooof Platinum is so pricy

I mean I love me some transmog but does it need to be THAT much blizzard? Prices are a bit steep for some skins. I mean yeah I know you don’t need them and yeah they do nothing for you in the end but…yeeessh just so costly.

Got to pay those artist salaries somehow.

Part of me is kind of glad they’re so expensive because I feel absolutely ZERO urge to buy them. $20 - $30 isn’t really a “micro” transaction anymore. I’ve bought full games for less that gave hundreds of hours of gameplay. The value proposition is sub-zero.

true, the price is swaying me off currently but i mean…I really want that lion set for barbs LOL

I also think they’re going to lower the price to look like the good guy in a week or two. It will still be expensive, just not sell a kidney expensive.

I agree with you 100%

Unlikely, these prices are typically based around you buying the largest pack.

They also typically set the price at the number that would be most profitable.

Cutting the price say like in half would need twice the number to buy to make the difference and the pool of people that buy at all in these games is relatively small when compared to the total playerbase. I worked at a game stusio with microtransactions the prices weren’t picked out of thin air.

These prices are relatively close to our prince point if not less. Although this show rotates in 3 days so im guessing there throwing some added fomo in to encourage buyers like me on the fence. Smart

I saw the prices and it’s not worth it for me to buy platinum products in the game at these prices.

I’m sure there are players who will buy some or all of it, but for me personally it’s too expensive.

Thank you so much Blizzard for these prices, it will make me focus more on the game and cosmetics that can be earned for free.

Sad part is I would really by some of these items if the prices was not so nuts for them, Everyone is crying foul on how insane the prices are yet blizzard is dead silent on the issue.

I wonder what is worth more to blizzard? a 1 time sale of 28$ or 5 sales of 10$?

24$ for a skin pack oof

This is a shame. I was going to collect them all. But this pricing is insane for an already premium game with season pass.
It’s like playing a free to play, but you already paid way more for it.

Yeah its pretty crappy. And like said I wouldn’t mind spending some money on a set or two or even three but not at those prices. If I buy the barb set I better COMMIT to my barb because i just invested $24 into that barb. I can’t decide to go necro and snag that set or druid and snag that set if I so wanted to because I would be broke in a week.

sets should be $5/$10 at max, but they are treating it like wow and costing $25 and again wow makes sense (kinda): one transmog set pops up like every 3-6 months if even and EVERY main/alt you have can use that set. Here not so much the case.

I would assume they have more knowledge on the matter than we do. I doubt they would intentionally pick values which nets them worse $ overall, they would’ve spent a long time having multiple people go over all of the data for all of their games as well as games in general to see what price points people tend to spend at and calculating the best $/skin price for their profit margins

I’ve seen the worst stores, lost ark minimum is 10$ purchase for crystals. LMFAO

Its about the same as Guild Wars 2.

Yeah: but neither of those games have subs nor are “premium” games you could say because guild wars does charge for the game it is more so then lost ark but, Lost ark is free so they get there money from the store transactions: which POE does as well makes sense, free game means no income means you need to put things on the store and jack up the prices to make money.

Diablo 4 is NOT that it is a full priced premium game with an over priced store attached to it, thats just…double greedy.

A full purchase of Guild Wars 2, today, costs $99.00. Im not sure you know what you’re talking about. Not to mention, GW2 has had their store up for over 10 years.

sadly it looks like averages are around ~40 for full sets in the genre, with some games putting them 60-100+. Diablo has a opportunity to make a point to the other ARPG cash shops who’ve gotten a little wild with the pricing, and looks like they’re settling 10 under most the others at around $30 for the top end packs.

Ideal? of course not. But after knowing what the other ARPG’s were charging I was expecting a lot worse

And I have 0 faith in the argument of f2p/vs buying a game, it’s the same to me.

As said, guild wars 2 can be the exception to this rule because you do pay for the game: But guild wars 2 is an MMO with sever fees to surely maintain and does not require a monthly sub. So the flip side of that coin is yes, you pay for it but the severs still need to be ran and kept maintained so, store makes sense./

I suppose diablo 4 could fall into a guild wars 2 like area: Because it is only online there surely is a sever cost in there someplace but we don’t know that for sure because we don’t know how the game works: hidden severs like an mmo? one massive sever?

Its all irrelevant if you ask me. Especially considering nobody has to buy platinum. One of the points being missed here is that there is no currency exchange. In GW2, players can exchange gold for gems - granted, it takes massive amounts to buy skins, but QoL features can be done much easier. I think D4 would have less pushback with something like that in place. Also, nothing on the current store even seems worth it in anyway. None of the designs are great - however, it would be cool if you could purchase individual pieces of a set. This is what gaming IS right now, and while I dont support it - if Blizzard maintains quality support, updates, expansions, and a long life span like ANet has done for GW2, I will support that.

Finally, I just dont get people complaining now about something we knew was coming all along. Anyone thinking prices would be fair, are fools. Its never fair, but it can be balanced by Blizzard actually doing its best with D4 in the long run.
