I think they should make this an option. You press a button and you can find objects from other classes in exchange for less of yours.
I don’t have any problem with you wanting to get random items from all classes, but personally it’s frustrating when I find items that I can’t use.
Personally, I like being able to recycle what doesn’t work for me and then use those materials to create what I want. In other words: trade with the system. The game will always buy my useless garbage and always give me what I want… much better than dealing with scammers, resellers, and garbage that no one buys.
That is not true, at least in the case of trading.
There are 4 situations:
-No trading.
-Free trade.
-Limited trading.
-Regulated trading (by AH or similar)
In regulated trading, if you set the right conditions, you can ensure free trading without RMT.
I’ve only encountered this system once (OS Runescape Grand Exchange), but I’m sure there are more out there.
I am the sort of idiot who wants to build with off-class stats. I am also the sort of idiot who wants to build with stats that are almost certain to be culled in the itemization overhaul.
People seem to be unable to think outside of the box. D4 has many flawed systems, it is too late to make itemization what it should have been, and so there is little reason to remove smart loot (aside from alts, which Blizzard hates so much that I’m pretty sure you get banned for making one)… but we already have systems in place that can accomodate the players who want to engage with them, while the meta-slave and power-gamer masses never have to.
If they put in an extra (or perhaps more than one) Enchanter, with special affix options, not only do you cut down on the horrors of RNG trying to get the bland damage bonus you are looking for, you could theoretically choose to take things the normies are scared of. Go ahead and build a Willpower barb. Want to execute trash on Lucky Hit? Go to town. If you can only play on Tuesdays, why not take damage on Tuesdays?
There is no good reason to take away player’s options when there are better solutions. Especially not in a game this soulless and empty.
And on the topic of having a chance to loot other class’ items, I am almost certain that is only for rares and below. If it applied to uniques, Shakogate would never have happened. The only thing rarer than an uber unique in those days was an off-class unique, with a 0% drop rate. Who cares about looting rares and below from another class? Why exempt those, of all things, from smart loot?
